HP 2207w Slow to start from Cold, quicker when warm

    Hi All,

I've a HP 2207w which has recently started taking longer to start from cold, but normal when warm which leads to me suspect caps are failing on the inverter board. Would this be a correct initial assumption before I crack it open or are there other chief suspects ?

One thing I've just noted but never noticed before even though I've owned this from new is that under the menu system info it only seems to be showing recent lamp hours and not total lamp hours from new, is it normal behaviour and could this point to something else ?

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

your invertor wont effect starting, only backlights.
it sounds like caps, but more likely in the psu - probably small ones.

Hi and thanks for the reply, I've decided to order a new Dell 24 inch for now and save this for a wet Saturday afternoon project. Might be back in a couple of weeks if I get stuck.

Just for further info it's looks like it's taking 3-4 attempts to ignite the lamps when cold rather than the usual one. Power switch goes from amber to blue straight away but then toggles from blue to off about 4 times over 30 seconds then lamps illuminates, I'm assuming each of those cycles is an illumination attempt, is this a correct assumption ?

Could anyone recommend a good reputable (and cheap) UK based CCFL supplier as I might as well change them all anyway as they are getting elderly and it's going to be on the bench if the price is right.

no cheap parts sources other than china.

you may want to consider an led kit instead of new tubes.

Was thinking LED kit but I've no experience of them, any recommendations and pitfalls ?

not really, the pitfalls are exactly the same as replacing the ccfl's - you need to be very carefull with the panel not to break it or get dust in it.

other than that, your just replacing the invertor with a high current one instead of a high voltage one.
