Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
I read this entire thread today because my Samsung 2493HM is experiencing the same symptoms (black display, solidly lit blue LED). I got the impression that ivtec didn't understand budm's advice regarding how to test power supply board voltages when the power supply board isn't connected to the main board. Specifically: temporarily connect a resistor between the PS-ON and STBY (standby) pins of the smaller of the two connectors normally cabled to the main board, to raise the voltage on the PS-ON pin. PS-ON is an input signal that the main board uses to tell the power supply board to turn on. When the main board isn't connected to the power supply board (or if the main board is connected but isn't working right or received feedback of a problem) then it doesn't supply 2.5Vdc to the PS-ON pin, which causes the power supply to only generate 5Vdc "standby" power (needed by the main board and by the blue LED). Connecting a jumper resistor from STBY to PS-ON will supply the signal needed to turn on the rest of the power supply voltages so they may be measured.

Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
The symptom shown on the youtube is very strange, they all have the same symptom. I wonder it was due to bad DCV feeding the main board or not. Glad it is working out for you and you did not give up.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
Hi budm; i have good news, i opened up the monitor one more time and i went through some of the solders and found one bad solder on one of the caps re-solder it and reassembled it and for my surprise monitor is working again like new,as i stated all components all looked and tested ok,so it had to do with the hard glue and bad solders. Thanks budm for your patience and time, appreciate, this forum is the best.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
Thanks budm the cap is 470 uf cause i have another one just like it and with my Fluke 87 i measure about 470uf, the 16T i would assume it's 16v.
Also this is the other video it's not my tv but it's exact the same symptoms. hope you can open it.

Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
OK, it is working now. What did you change?
You are testing the cap that is still soldered to the board, other components connected in parallel with the cap may be giving you wrong reading.
The '470' can also mean 47uF, it depends on how manufacturer uses the numbering system. some may use '471' for 470uF (1 = multiplier of 10).
I am not sure about the first Video that shows color cycling.

'The Fusivel resistor RB 8015 you mention is not 10 ohms but 33ohms'. i just check the board, you are correct, it is 33 Ohms not 10 Ohms.

did you check the video i made about the the cap if the short is due to the 2 coils?

Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
You can measure the DCV between the two legs of the cap, then you will have some idea what the Voltage rating of the cap will be.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
Never mind after reading you r post 24. I thought you had already removed all the glues as suggested in the beginning.
The resistor is in parallel with the load so it will show <100K.
I would check out those semiconductors I marked.
Check those Resistor, Diode, Cap in the snubber network, see some glues there.
Check the fusible resistor, should be <10 Ohms.
now i want your opinion on a SMt Cap 470uf 16T C3045 on the main board, between L600 and L902 see video. also on cap 470uf the 16T stands for 16v?

Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
H guys new update on Samsung 2493 HM monitor.
Today i decided to reassemble power supply after taken out Cap 4pf 1KV
clean hard glue and re-solder it back also cleaned all other glue around all other caps,
and for my surprise i have tv on but with no controls and just a screen with switching back and forth between RGB ,white, and blue screen, with no controls on the front, just power on and of switch, see video,
what do you see of this? thanks in advance
Disregard the sound cause is from my tv.

Re: Samsung monitor 2493 HM steady blue light dead
Thanks again budm; i checked all those little caps and all of the others with my Cap Analyzer 88A and all check good ,
but i checked this SM resistor 104 that measures 4K it should be 100K next to C809 there is another 104 in same area that measure about 95K what is about right,i would post Board # of these SM resistors but they are hard to reed.Leave a comment:

by valscuHello,
I have an Eizo SX3031W monitor and after a period i had problems with the tcon board. I did reflow, it went well for a while after but the problems appeared again. The second reflow attempt was a failure, the tcon board stopped working. In the meantime, I bought a perfectly functional Samsung 305T monitor from which I took the tcon board and installed it in the Eizo monitor. Since I turned on the monitor, the blue color appeared in the background instead of black. And also in Windows, appears blue instead of black. I tried various settings from the monitor and driver settings but...-

by ant3202Hi Everyone
Lately I am experiencing the deja-vu incident on one of the led monitor like this.

The monitor is HP 27es LED Monitor

The monitor will randomly blackout and display no signal and will recover again.
Sometimes need to power and off again to restore the display but...-

by Rick_1234Good evening, gentlemen.
I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.
To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Things I tried
- Bought a new AC adapter thinking that was the problem but the problem...-

by momakaLooking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.
I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.
When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...-
