    Dell LCD Monitors

hey everyone i started a new job and they have a area where they throw computer stuff away and dont care if people pick through it and take stuff, i picked up a couple of dell monitors recently

one is a dell 2009w and the other is a 17" inch dell monitor both are lcd's and they both have issues

the 2009w will turn on just fine, checked the caps and they are rubycons, but when you first turn it on a picture comes up for maybe like a second and then goes away, but if i look real carefully i can see my computer's desktop and can see me moving windows around so it works but something is wrong, im thinking ccfl, can this be fixed?

the second one im not sure on the model, but when you turn it on it kinda does the same thing but the screen has a red tint and goes to black and cant see anything after that, have checked the caps and they are fine, could this also be a ccfl issue?

CCFL.s a definite possibility, but could be the inverter part of the cct in the 2009,but red screen on the other normally is the lamps.

You need to upload photos of the 2009 Power Supply/Inverter Board,Top and Bottom, good focus.Use 'Go Advanced' below and 'Manage Attachments' to upload the photos.

ok so the 2009 is a 2009wt i had wrong by accident, but anyway i took it apart to get some pictures and decided to check the ccfl's and took one out and it was fine took the other out and as you can see in the picture the white wire came off and is burnt, im thinking both ccfl's will need to be replaced i will also post some pictures of the power supply board in a little bit

It may be a burnt connection and that is causing your issue. If you remove the outer casing it is possible to see the connection between the CCFL and wire. If the connection is charred or burnt, this may be your issue. It may be salvageable, but you can also pull a CCFL from another monitor that you find.

theres not enough wire to try and solder it back on unless i were to run a whole new wire though i dont think kynar wire 30awg would work and its the only wire i have on hand right now

I use that Kynar on all my re-wiring of lamps, and it has never failed so far.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                    by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
                    by ttmi100x
                    Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

                    Upon closer inspection...

Dell Inspiron 5590 Board 18778-1 no charging, charging not possible
                    by master3112
I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...

Dell Latitude 5420 does not start (no post) need help to find the reason why
                    by F R 2568
                    Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

                    The power/battery...

                    Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
                    by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

                    Pictures of these boards:
