Oh right, this: http://www.ccflwarehouse.com/stmorekit.html ? I guess they look up your screen model and send you what you need.

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black

I carefully disassembled the ccfl's, removed the wires and measured them.....

But ccfl warehouse wanted $9.95 each for the 2.6 x 485mm ccfl,s so I bought the kit.

It was a learning experience...... I broke one of the good ones

Of course the burnt one survived the learning curve, but so did the two good ones

I also hunted up the four E-Waste places here in town and I'm going to try to pick up a few dead monitors to gut the ccfl connectors out of...... I want to make three more test lights.

      Thanks Again

        fuck they are expensive.

the place i use charges about 15$ for a pack of 5!
they are also charging $50 for 50tubes!

and about 15$ for the led conversion kits.

we are in the US so we can't get the 2dollar chinese bulbs
shipping across oceans makes a difference in total costs !
I use to have a florida supplier that bulk bought from China and resold at better costs, but he is not doing it anymore

should have aimed for the led kit - they use a third of the power!

i'll be putting another one in a 24inch tv once it arrives.

                  I suppose I should......

But since this is my first monitor repair I opted to do it old school for the experience

Maybe after I get this one working I'll try the led kit on the next one, at this point a few extra dollars doesn't mean all that much to me......

I just want the satisfaction that all I have learned means something when I put my monitor back together and it works like it did when I brought it home new four years ago.

If not, so be it...... A round for the house at my watering hole costs three or four times what I have spent on parts

                  Cheers!

Thanks for the dimension details. I've got a monitor that I suspect has dodgy lamps. Problem is I don't think it's worth it at the prices CCFLWarehouse want, and I can't see any other sellers.

                            personally i'd skip the fluke.
a friend has one and the build quality isnt all that special.

when my meter dies i'm going to look at the Uni-T ones.
they look very good for the price.
                            i want auto-ranging, a backlight and a bargraph.
                            preferably for under £50 / 75$
i cant spend more than that incase i break it!

Probably more info than you need here: http://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/

Also, Dave Jones seems to have a personal hate on for cheap multimeters, anything he recommends should be pretty good.

I'd try to get one that has an analogue response function (not sure what it's called) - the realtime action of analogue meters or the digital emulation of it can be quite useful at times.

I found a nice meter but it seems like I can't get one here in the states

I ...... oh here it is, Brymen TMB-867 or BM-867...... I don't know what to buy,

I just want a nice one, I wanted a Fluke but they seem overpriced and read about some supercapacitor that craps out on the good ones.......

Maybe I read too much, but if I'm going to spend that much money I want a DMM that is going to last me a few years.

It's like going on a safari hunt for a high end DMM.......

I have watched so many reviews, listened to the good and the bad..... watched them taken apart and picked over for this and that,

I honestly have no idea what to buy

The only one I would buy right now is the one I can't........ The Brymen TMB-867, it seems just right for me right now.

                                I don't know......

what do you need it to do?

and dont underestimate how good a serial port can be.

I could go for anything I want too.... that is not the point.....

I just want a nice DMM that I can do all my testing that I know and learn all the things that I don't know and want to learn........

Problem is there is so many meters out there,

Thanks my friend, that's about what I want to pay for such a DMM.......

Haven't checked what the shipping costs, but I willl

Oh..... I looked into tracking my ccflwarehouse order and found a email from them.

I never read my email because it's always spam and crap like that...... they sent me a email asking for the diagonal and horizontal measurement of my screen........ about a week ago

I measured the damn thing and sent them the numbers, 18 7/8 horizontal and 22 3/8 diagonal.

They say they will get my order out when they receive the numbers....

Don't know why they can't get those numbers off the kit they sell for my Viewsonic VX2235WM

Thanks for the help my friend

So I've had this monitor for probably a decade now, and it's finally starting to fail. Began with a little sporadic flickering, then eventually started going black (power LED stays blue, can still see image on screen with flashlight). A power on/off fixes it for a bit, but then it happens again. Once it got to the point I was dealing with this every few minutes, I opened it up and just replaced all the caps (minus the big one) on the power board with new Panasonic ones. All the old caps tested fine on an ESR meter, and this worked for 5 days. But the screen just went black again today, so...

LG 37LG5020 and the tale of 2 seconds to black.
                                            by DrankinSAW
I bought an LG 37LG5020 with a very strange issue.. it turns on, the display looks fine, but still, after 2 seconds, the TV shuts the backlight off..

However, if i leave it plugged in for 20-40min.. the time it takes to shutdown the backlight, doubles (to 4 seconds)..

I bought a new inverter, set to arrive on December 13th
