Re: Samsung LN52A550P3FXZA
Thanks budm,
Ok, in the the Badcaps store there are Rubycon 47uf 25v caps, they are said to be low ESR.
Will these do or should I go for broke and get two 47uf 10v Tantalum caps and buy a mini heat gun to flow them?
I would be ordering two electrolytic Rubycon 47uf 25v and seven electrolytic Rubycon ultra low esr 820uf 6.3v to recap the bulged caps in another project.
Thank You For Helping,
R. Ashton

Samsung LN52A550P3FXZA
Hi Everyone,
My Samsung 52' was doing the on off cycle and squeel, after some research here I replaced C102 & C131 with a couple of SMG (m) 85c 16v 47uF caps I had on hand.
Now it will turn on, squeel with the vertical lines until it cycles off then turns on and works perfect.
Do you guys think the MP2363DN IC is bad? Maybe cold solder joints?
Are the SMG caps low enough ESR?
I have recapped many power supply boards but this is my first time messing with these tiny flush mount tantalum caps.
Here is...

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
I will look into that
Thank You!
ccflwarehouse sent out my order today, I guess I shouldn't have bitched about them without checking my stupid yahoo email......
But I honestly didn't expect a company that sells a direct kit for my exact monitor to need the diagonal and horizontal measurements.
Maybe some are a little different? I don't know..... makes no sense to me.
After I removed the ccfl's I put it back together and wrapped it up in a piece...

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
Thanks my friend, that's about what I want to pay for such a DMM.......
Haven't checked what the shipping costs, but I willl
Oh..... I looked into tracking my ccflwarehouse order and found a email from them.
I never read my email because it's always spam and crap like that...... they sent me a email asking for the diagonal and horizontal measurement of my screen........ about a week ago
I measured the damn thing...

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
Hell,
I could go for anything I want too.... that is not the point.....
I just want a nice DMM that I can do all my testing that I know and learn all the things that I don't know and want to learn........
Problem is there is so many meters out there,
I really wanted that Brymen876........
Looked like`nice`machine.

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
I found a nice meter but it seems like I can't get one here in the states
I ...... oh here it is, Brymen TMB-867 or BM-867...... I don't know what to buy,
I just want a nice one, I wanted a Fluke but they seem overpriced and read about some supercapacitor that craps out on the good ones.......
Maybe I read too much, but if I'm going to spend that much money I want a DMM that is going to last me a few years.
It's like going on a safari hunt for a high...

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
My poor old sears analog meter died
It served me well for many years.......
Time to step up to a Fluke Digital
Which one should I buy? You guys are the experts.......
I leave it up to you my friends, pick me out a nice one
A moment of silence for my old friend...........

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
I suppose I should......
But since this is my first monitor repair I opted to do it old school for the experience
Maybe after I get this one working I'll try the led kit on the next one, at this point a few extra dollars doesn't mean all that much to me......
I just want the satisfaction that all I have learned means something when I put my monitor back together and it works like it did when I brought it home new four years ago.
If not, so be it...... A round...

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
I carefully disassembled the ccfl's, removed the wires and measured them.....
But ccfl warehouse wanted $9.95 each for the 2.6 x 485mm ccfl,s so I bought the kit.
It was a learning experience...... I broke one of the good ones
Of course the burnt one survived the learning curve, but so did the two good ones
I also hunted up the four E-Waste places here in town and I'm going to try to pick up a few dead monitors to gut the ccfl connectors out of.........

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
Wow Bammbammfran
Thanks for all the help! That must have taken some time and I sure appreciate it
I agree about not messing with the caps right now....... I ordered a set of cclf's from cclf warehouse last night.
I ordered a set that is supposed to be a kit for my exact monitor, It was kind of expensive but I was drained searching and searching for cclf bulbs.......
Thanks Again : )

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
To be honest I did check all those sites but the product index filters confused the hell out of me..... I kept getting zero results.
I did go back to Digikey and searched for the caps on my board with the filters set at Panasonic-FM-Capacitance-VoltageRating
Can you check my list and tell me if these caps are what I need?

Re: Viewsonic VX2235WM........ 10 Seconds to black
You are both right,
The parts came today and I replaced the two transistors and the starter cap....... no change
I took the plunge and opened up the display, it was surprisingly easy as long as you are patient and gentle.
One of the blubs out of four is burnt....... the wires are fine but one is dead, guess I'll order two new ccfl's.
I'm going to make a test light out of a 13 watt sylvania to make sure everything else is ok.
Thanks guys
