    HP 2210m or others

    Hello,

First off, I am a newbe to this forum. I am working on a HP 2210m lcd monitor that turns on for a few seconds and then shuts down. I have read many threads here and most point to bad capacitors. Visually all the caps look OK, my Heathkit capacitor tester has decided to quit working after many years of use so I am unable to test the caps at this point. What i have found is that if I disconnect the ribbon cable to the LCD panel the power supply will stay on. I'm wondering if I should call it quits now or could the caps still be the culprit ?

If you have read a number of threads you will know we often need pictures.

You will also have read the 2 seconds to black guide at the front of this forum
    and carried out the tests.

So if all your voltages are ok and you have checked the panel board for
voltage regulators and the ccfls are good then yes, call it quits.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

I fail to see how a picture could be of any use.
I have read the guides. I have checked the voltages and all are correct and stable as long as the panel is disconnected. The ccfl's are plugged in.

you forgot to say if when shuts down the led stays on (i imagine not) and if before shut down an imagine is visible. You can inspect the tcon board (on the panel) for shorts..
