Dell SX2210B - Power goes off after 2 seconds

    Hi all

My name is Chris and I am from Christchurch, New Zealand.

I have a Dell SX2210B monitor with a power issue - this is a white 22" Dell Monitor.

When you turn on the monitor it displays the no active signal box for about 2 seconds on the display and then turns off.

This monitor has an external power pack which plugs into the power board of the monitor itself so not 220v going into the monitor.

After taking the monitor apart I have found that the caps all look good. There was 10 x 25V 220u caps.

When the monitor is apart you can actually hear like a shorting out about 2 seconds after power on.

A bit like DSSSSSS DSSSSSS and then the power goes off.

Just in case I removed all 10 caps (they all looked good to the eye with no bulging) and replaced them with new ones but it still has the same issue.

I am interested in learning about the issue how to diagnose and repair this.

I have a number of photos of the power board (this is where the sound appears to come from)

The board is quite clean (i.e. not too busy) so hopefully someone will be able
to give me some ideas on where to look for potential issues.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    Cheers

    Chris

Chances are it is a bad lamp/wiring to it.Also please do not put photos on in-line,as this slows everything down, and a lot of members will just ignore the post because of that.Use 'Go advanced' below and then 'manage attachments'.If you have no spare lamps to test, then suggest you disconnect the lamps from their sockets, and then switch on and see if your DSSSSS is still there.

Thanks for the info on the attachments - I will do so in the future - it does not look like I can modify the original post?

As far as the issue is concerned I will try out what you said and see if the issue persists.

        Hi again

I have done as you suggested and removed the lamp wires (CN801, CN802, CN803, CN804) from the last image above.

        No Dsssss

I then put CN801 and CN802 back on

Also no Dssss and I can see the no active connection image move around the screen.

As soon as I connect either CN803 or CN804 or both the Dssss comes back.

I do not know what this means now. Does this just mean the panel is dead? Or is this something that can be repaired cheaply?

Can you actually run the monitor without CN803/CN804 connected? I have not tried this to see what would happen.

        Chris

Take the lamp's connectors that are plug into the CN801/802 (which do not make DSS) and plug them into the CN803/804 to see if the DSS still there, we are trying to find out if the DSS is from the lamps or from the transformer.

            Hi

I have done as asked and the issue is the lamp - as the problem moves to the other connector.

I am not sure now what to do - I had a quick look at the panel and was not sure how to proceed. I guess the lamp is faulty.

Can you run it with just 1 lamp? does it make it dark on one side?

            Chris

All the lamps have to be hooked up and working, otherwise the protection circuits will kick in. Getting to the lamp assemblies is not easy job.

Seeking Advice: Repairing Dell U3425WE Monitor with Faulty USB-C/Thunderbolt Ports
                by Borse2008
                Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice or opinions on what to do with a monitor issue I’ve run into. Apologies in advance is this crossovers a few forum categories.

I have a Dell U3425WE, which I've recently replaced with another model. That said, the original unit is still fully functional in terms of the display — it works perfectly over HDMI and DisplayPort. However, the USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports have stopped functioning correctly. The Issue:
                • The 90W Thunderbolt 4 port (circled in the photo) no longer charges or powers any device, including laptops or MacBooks.

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.

                Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
                by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...
