Re: Dell 2007FPb - No power at all
Well, apparently I can. I thought it may have been a burn or something indicative of a bad board.
Anyone else have any ideas?

That looks like stain, can you clean it off with alcohol?Leave a comment:

Should I get a replacement board? Anything left to test?Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007FPb - No power at all
FD3 to FD8 all read around 90 Ohms with leads in one direction, open with the leads switched.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007FPb - No power at all
You will test for short /or low Ohm resistance reading in both direction on its 2 legs which will indicate bad diode. you can set to 200 Ohm scale on the meter.
You can see what the diode looks like in the pictures of that link.Leave a comment:

I have not, what exactly am I testing? I see the diagrams, but not sure what side or how to test.Leave a comment:

No luck finding the board at the recycle place, but did you check these diodes as shown in the diagram? FD3~FD8.

Re: Dell 2007FPb - No power at all
Sorry, I have been busy. I will see if I can find the the USB/sub-power supply board (I have the main power supply and the Inverter board) so I can give you the test points, most of the time the two diode that are connected in parallel failed.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007FPb - No power at all
Not sure if I did this right, but was checking voltage two ways, between the two leads of the capacitors and also by one lead of the capacitor to the ground.
C44 and C60 - no voltage.
Could not find a C58, but C50 - no voltage.
U2, U5, U13 - no voltage.
J4/J9 pin 8 had no voltage.
However, the 19v from power supply is making it across to the logic (?) board and then across pin 11/12 to the USB/power supply board and then across the 3A fuse.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007FPb - No power at all
Your power supply is OK.
I believe the problem in on the USB/power supply board.
If you look post 2 where I made the diagrams, check those Diode in my drawing.

Re: Dell 2007FPb - No power at all
Tested R615. It read 1.3 to 1.4 Ohms. But the meter also reads 1.2 Ohms with the leads connected. So I think it is close (1.4-1.2=0.2). Best I can do - cheap meter.
As I mentioned above, not sure where to test the DC output connector. I see the wires (all 9). Which ones do I test?
While I am thinking about it, heat up the caps with what? Candle? I just do not know. How hot?
Also I see the spec sheet, just not sure what to do with it.
Your help is truly appreciated, however I fear my ignorance is hindering the process.Last edited by slawson2000; 05-17-2013, 07:08 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007FPb - No power at all
OK, this is the spec sheet.
Check Source resistor R615 (looks like 0.18 Ohms) to make sure it is not open.
Try heating the start up caps C606, C611 to see if you will get an out put on the DC output connector. You can test this power supply board by itself without having ant thing else hooked up to it.Attached FilesLeave a comment:

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. ๐
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by Mark01Hi guys,
This is my first post! ๐
I have no idea what Iโm doing, but Iโm learning by trial and error.
Iโm currently working on a Dell Optiplex AIO 7490โone of a bunch of AIOs that mysteriously failed to POST just a few days after the warranty expired. The original issue was that the PC worked fine until it was rebooted, after which it got stuck on a black screen (no backlight), with fans spinning at normal speed and a solid white power LED. Forcing it off by holding the power button would just cause it to switch on automatically and get stuck again on...07-04-2025, 12:54 PM -

Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop

Bios: 1.9.0
When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has... -
by seppdeHello everyone,
I've recently gotten my hands on a defective XPS13 9380. I will attach a zip of the schematics and boardview.
My first discovery on the Board was that the reverse current Diode PD103 of the 1st USB-C was blown.
Nothing to worry about, the board got 3 USB-C ports which support Power/Charging. On I go.
Next I inspected the power-rails to see why the diode blew up and found a short on the 3V3 rail which I traced back to the Power-IC for the LCD (UZ2). I desoldered it and the very low-ohmic short is gone. I checked on the LCD-connector that there's no short... - Loading...
