The power board is a DAC-19M009, and the main board is a a170e2-e03-h-s6

    there is no led light and U6 is shorted somewhat and showing these votls pin 1 - 0v, 2 - 0.88v, 3 - 1.72v.

the 5v supply from power supply drops to 1.7v and 5v when video board is connected.

so what im asking is what would bring the 5v down, is there something shorted?

    Thanks guys and girls

Check the ceramic caps. One might be shorted. Just set your multimeter on ohms.

I had a similar problem (took me 20 months to figure out). See

BTW, I know voltage regulators can go bad, but after almost 3 years of participation, I can't recall one that actually measures shorted.

I thought I had 2 on a Dell logic board, but after desoldering them and testing them out of circuit, they were fine. There is still a short on that logic board, but I have no motiviation to find it.
