HP w19e - Control Board Button

I have an HP w19e that works great except for something to do with the control board. There are 5 buttons on the control board - AUTO, VOL -, POWER, VOL +, MENU. Sometimes the control board works OK, sometimes not. The OSD will show up on screen automatically, the power button doesn't work, can't change between menus, etc. Through trial and error, I have narrowed the malfunctioning button to the VOL +. With VOL + unplugged, all other buttons function normally and as expected.

The question I have, is there a chance that the actual button is malfunctioning or could it be something else? I have another button available from a scrapped out monitor and could replace it if that could be the cause.

I can post pictures of the power board, logic board, and / or control board if they would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: HP w19e - Control Board Button

Button is just a switch. Probably the switch mechanism broke internally and is closing the circuit, locking out other button signals from having an effect.

Manually complete the circuit by using multimeter probes on current measurement mode. Do it like the switch would, momentarily complete the circuit and see if it has the desired effect. Remove probes and try other buttons' function.

If that seems beyond your ability, go ahead and put the replacement switch in then try it.

Re: HP w19e - Control Board Button

Completing the circuit manually worked as excepted, so I went ahead and swapped out the button with one from the scrapped monitor (a bit difficult removing 5 solder points in close proximity on a narrow pcb). I raised a portion of the trace while removing the original button, but I completed the circuit with some small wire soldered to the trace to complete the circuit.

      Thanks again.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
        by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

        Assuming...

LG 60PK550 Logic Control Board EBR63450301
        by Yanleb
Hi all, I just want to share the repair of my 60PK550-UA TV set.

The TV set was powering on, just no image. After verification, nothing wrong on the YSus or ZSus boards. Nothing wrong on the main board either.

But I noticed that the LED was not flashing on the Logic Control Board. This is an EBR63450301. The LED is supposed to flash even with all the flat cables disconnected, with only the power cable attached.

All the voltages measured at the electrolytic capacitors on the board were good. From top left to bottom right:

the board (yes, just the motherboard & daughter board) came to my desk with shorted ITE8585E, after ordered a programmed ITE and placing it on motherboard it turned on immediately, using HDMI i confirm that the boot entering the bios since there is no bootable drive attached. then i turned off by unplugging the DC adapter, while preparing keyboard, mouse & some flashdrive to boot into.

after all plugged (including adapter) the board doesn't "auto turn on" like before, pressing power button with no change. without unplugging anything i'm checking voltages needed...
