    Is this a bad panel?

I have a Samsung 215TW. When I acquired it, I immediately opened it, and found bulging caps, replaced all of them with Panasonic FM/FR/FC. Powered her up and this is what I saw, in the first pic.

There is no signal cable attached, so the units screensaver "Check signal cable" Analog is displayed. There are vertical lines emanating from the message box, and there is sever ghosting of the message, as shown in the second pic. The vertical lines follow the message.

In the 2nd pic, the refresh rate is extremely slow, as in 1 box per second . In a normal monitor, you should not even see any ghosting. I also hooked it up to my laptop, and I saw the desktop but it wasnt pretty with vertical lines and smudged text and horrible slow response.

This is a good S-PVA monitor, and getting one like it today would cost about $250 or more.

If the logic board is faulty, I will replace it, as it would only cost me $50. However, if its the panel, then it would not be economical, I don't think.

I included pics of the power supply (with caps already replaced) and the logic board. I tested the supply outputs and they are 13 volts and 3.3, as it should be(silkscreened on the board). The panel receives 4.97 v. All the controls work, and I have already reset the monitor to factory specs.

So do you guys think the logic board is the fault here, or the panel?

I could also do troubleshooting, but I need guidance on what to check.

    Thanks.

    Welcome, wetc!

What were the brand and series (e.g. Samxon GF) of the electrolytic capacitors that were replaced?
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

It looks like a bad T-Con board. There's another board at the top that controls timing the actual LCD called T-Con or Timing Control Board. Since this is a small monitor it's probably integrated with panel itself. Wouldn't hurt to check though.

I think they were Capxon GL. When I got them, I didnt even power it up. I just went ahead and replaced them.

If its the Vcon board, then would it be the ribbon that connects the panel to it? I read that if this is the problem, it cant be fixed.

I'll go ahead and look at it then. Hopefully its just a bad part on that board. Is there a part that's usually the culprit in these things?

A bigger odds option maybe the ribbon cable from logic board to T-Con,I have seen that go faulty on a few occasions, but normally it is the Screen/T-Con that is faulty, and have neve seen one that has been repaired if it is the flexible connectore between T-Con and Screen.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

LG 60PK550 Logic Control Board EBR63450301
            by Yanleb
Hi all, I just want to share the repair of my 60PK550-UA TV set.

The TV set was powering on, just no image. After verification, nothing wrong on the YSus or ZSus boards. Nothing wrong on the main board either.

But I noticed that the LED was not flashing on the Logic Control Board. This is an EBR63450301. The LED is supposed to flash even with all the flat cables disconnected, with only the power cable attached.

All the voltages measured at the electrolytic capacitors on the board were good. From top left to bottom right:
            C57: 3.30V
            C61:...

Will I have a bricked logic board after reflow of the GPU v-core U8900 chip on my Mid-2012 15" Retina Macbook pro?
            by korben_dallas
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).

I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.

I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.

            MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)...
