    LG 1918s No power

    Hello,

    Sympoms are:

    No power on
    Transformer clicking

    Diagnosys and Tests:

    No 5V VSB
No voltage on large cap 100uf 450V
    Bridge rectifier OK
    Mains fuse OK
    0.47uf capacitor OK
ALL caps look OK but not replaced

My main concern is why is there NO voltage on large cap?? Can somebody please shed some more light on this case?

    Thank you

That would sound like a tester error. Agree with 3sam, pictures would be a major help.

How did you test the bridge rectifier ?

And have you checked the thermistor ?

If you have zero volts across the main capacitor, then how can you have a "clicking sound"? Suggest you remeasure the voltage across the main cap. Black probe on negative cap lead and red probe on positive cap lead. Be careful as this is high voltage, approx 165 VDC if you're in the USA.

            Re: LG 1918s No power

            Thank you for the replies,

We have 230AC here so i set the dmm to 750V AC and messured the leads on the large capacitor. No volts.

I thought it was the transformer clicking but i could be wrong, sound is coming from that area. I will post pictures tomorrow when i am able to access the monitor.

Diode checked the bridge rectifier - no shorts and no reverse current flow

Thermistor looks ok but i forgot to test it. That would explain the problem i think.

Thank you for the answers, i will reply back tomorrow

The voltage across the main cap is DC, not AC. You should see approx. 230x1.4 = 322 VDC

                Re: LG 1918s No power

If your large cap is showing voltage and there is clicking coming from the board then the thermistor should be ok .
Pictures as stated will help others maybe spot something else that needs testing and can better guide you

Oops i was measuring AC on the large cap.

Large cap has DC Voltage 345V, ALL caps have been replaced except those two small starter caps. Yes i am aware of the irony that the monitor won't start and i have not replaced the starter caps. They are not currently on stock and will replace them when they are available.

                  Here are the pictures:

                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

                    Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue
                    by GLISIT
                    Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Asus Z97-a power cycle, no boot no cpu voltage
                    by meraklinetx
Hello, I have an asus Z97-A motherboard and it doesn't start which was working properly before, the problem isn't related by ram, ram slots or psu (I changed all and nothing work), the exact problem is when you switch it on , it starts and after 1 seconds (no boot or display picture) it's off and then on cycle continuously until you power it off from psu also it's responding to the power switch for turning it off if you keep pressing it 3 or 4 seconds (power button pin has 3.3v) , also when you start it with eatx 12v socket connected this is happening (power cycle also all voltages are resetting...
