    Viewsonic VX2235 ver-3 -replaced caps-still blinks

So first of all I just found this forum, and am so pleased it exists. I was given this monitor by a friend about a year ago, and I just recently found the time to attempt repairing it.

At first, the screen would turn on and worked for maybe 20 minutes before it started flickering. Then it would only turn on for maybe 30 seconds and then blink for 10 seconds or so, and go black. A flashlight test showed the image was still being displayed. The problem seemed to only get worse each time I tried to turn it on. A few months ago, I got it to work for about 25 minutes before the flickering showed up. Then like before it only got worse and worse, till it wouldn't light up at all.

I randomly found some info about capacitors going bad, and causing this exact problem. So I found the correct caps in a kit on ebay, even though I saw no bulging caps, and did the replacement.

At first glance it seemed to have worked. But after a few minutes it began blinking, and went dark. Today, after fiddling with the board a bit, wiggling and such, It seemed to have improved the problem. I was able to get it to turn on and stay lit for 10 minutes, before it started to blink. It seemed to randomly start blinking, but it didn't seem to just get worse. It would blink for a minute or two and then seem fine for a few minutes.

However after leaving it on for 30 minutes, it went black, and now won't come on at all. If replacing the caps didn't help, what else should I try? I have a multimeter and test light. I still have the old caps that I guess were not bad at all.

Here are a couple images of the power board. Could it be a problem with the lamps themselves or maybe the other board(display board??)?

    Re: Viewsonic VX2235wm ver-3 -replaced caps-still blinks

My apologies for not providing more technical data about the parts I'm working with, and for placing inline photos, instead of attachments. I'm removing the images linked in the post above and adding them in my attachments, including images of the logic board, front and back.

The caps I replaced were Hermei. The new ones I'm not actually sure what they are, but they have a M or W in a circle on the side. Thats the only mark other than their rating I'm seeing. Had I found this forum before I'd have made sure I was getting the recommended panasonic, even though I now get the feeling its nothing to do with my caps.

The company I ordered the kit from states: "We only use high quality capacitors manufactured by Panasonic, Nichicon and Rubycon in our kits. We do not use CapXon capacitors."

So today turning the screen on, it seems to work fine. I don't have a dvi or vga port to test the monitor with atm, but the "no signal" screen comes up bright, no flickering every time I turn it on. Though I imagine like yesterday, if I leave it on long enough, or turn it on and off enough times, it will again flicker for a while and then finally go black. This makes me think the problem may have to do with heat? If the longer its on the worse it gets, till finally, the light goes out, and won't come back on until the its been off for a couple hours or so(untested, just about how long I've waited to try again), then it seems like something is "buckling" under heat right?

those caps are actually panasonic/matsushita (the M-in-a-box is for Matsushita)
from what i can tell on the pic, they seem to be FM series..

example pic of a bunch of pannys (FM series on the right, FC on the left with a huge HFG on top)

You could have a bad ccfl or ccfl wiring. See

        http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/y...klight%20lamp/

        for some examples.

You may also want to check your board for poor soldering with a 10x magnifying glass/loupe.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

          Re: Viewsonic VX2235 ver-3 -replaced caps-still blinks

So I may have come upon a somewhat unorthodox test, but with the monitor plugged in and powered on, not connected to a computer, the no signal screen comes up bright the first dozen or so times after not being on over night, then around 15 times turned on and off, the no signal screen begins blinking every time I turn it on, more and more each time.

Well I thought Id try unplugging the 10(9?) pin connector between the power and logic board, and the power led goes black, but the screen shows solid white, no blinking whatsoever, and when reconnect the "10" pin connector the no signal screen comes up, blinking a few times before the monitor goes to standby, like its been doing.

So since this bright white screen comes up solid, with no flickering, shouldn't that tell me this has nothing to do with the ccfl's at all? No pinkish hue either.

Could I even go as far to say that the problem only occurs once the logic board is powered, thus it's likely this is where the problem is?

And about the "10" pin connector I've read about on other threads about this model, I'm only counting 9 pins, and I've even found a thread with the same boards that I've got, and counted 9 pins on there, yet the connector is being referred to as a 10 pin. Am I missing something? The post I'm referring to is post 9 by retiredcaps in https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ght=vx2235wm#9

          Thanks for the help!

Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
            by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
            by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

Optiplex 3050 micro 2 blinks followed by 3 blinks issue
            by Taurus12
Does anyone have an idea of what might be the issue with my 3050 micro? I have tried replacing new cmos battery but still the same

I am not sure if its the powersupply that I'm using is the issue since its the original powersupply. its a laptop powersupply with the same specifications with the 3050 micro so i guess it should be fine.

i also tried replacing the bios but with no avail, everytime i try another bios it gives a different blinking lights

Any recommendation on what I have to do next? Thanks in advance

            Sony A1e 5-blinks help

Hi I'm new to trying to repair TVs, but I saw a broken OLED offered for a reasonable price and thought I'd try my hand at it.

I found the service manual, which was critical to know where to probe.
            https://www.manualslib.com/manual/20...1e-Series.html

With it I was able to determine that my DKA board was bad, when P_ON#1/2 gets enabled REG_12 on the DKA board collapses. I'm assuming one of the downstream regulators has a short, but I couldn't work out which rail/component and replaced the DKA board entirely.

            Unfortunately the 5-blinks...
