    Westinghouse Monitor Issue

    So 2 Westinghouse Monitors in which the led on the front will turn green when plugging into my computer, but no display will show. After reading numerous threads, I opened my monitor to find that several of the caps are bulged. My monitor uses DAC-19M005.

    I happened to come across the following link to replacement caps and mosfets on ebay and I am wondering if this is a good solution? I know it may or may not fix the entire problem however. Ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/Westinghouse-L20...-/320608826408

    Second, if these above items do not completely fix the problem, I will be lost since I have no electronics knowledge when it comes to stuff like this. I also have never done any soldering to this type of electronics and I noticed on the back side such as the mosfets that the solder for each pin is not touching. How can I keep that from touching as I assume it would short out if it was one big blob.

    Lastly, is any member on here willing to replace the needed items for me for a small charge. I am on a budget and do not want to fork out tons of money. I would also pay for shipping and return shipping.

      Where on the planet are you?
      36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....

              There might be someone willing in your area to help, but if not, find a friend that has a multimeter and soldering iron. The kit on ebay comes with mosfets and a fuse which you may or may not need. To verify if your mosfet is shorted and if your fuse is open, you will need a multimeter.

                  Is that a DAC-19M005 (AF) (BF) or (DF)? You should find a revision number underneath the DAC-19M005 marking. I believe that model used the DF.

                  Fortunately that is a very popular board, and you can buy them new from Hong Kong / China for about 20 to 25 bucks including shipping on eBay.

                  If memory serves me right, I had a Westinghouse just like yours with the DF revision. (correct?) (maybe it was BF) Anyways, I ended up taking a chance and buying the AF revision on eBay and desoldering the green audio jack before installing it. My friend I sold it to said it's been working great for months now.

                  I realize it's not as much fun as doing all the testing and soldering. But for 20 something bucks it was worth it to me to save the time.

                      Hmmm, I see those but they are used. I already ordered the parts to fix this one with better caps, a 4amp fuse and the two mosfets so I'll just see if I can fix this one and if not, I'll just buy one of those maybe.

                              Here's another LCD monitor repair: Westinghouse L2210NW.
                              Quick specs: 22” CCFL backlit LCD, 1680x1050 max resolution (16:10 aspect ratio)

                              I got it with a bunch of desktops PCs from a repair shop that was trying to free up space a few years ago. It seemed like a cheap monitor, so I didn't really care that much at first when I picked it up (and indeed it is, picture-wise.) But hey, free is free, so I can't complain. Moreover, it looked clean and the screen didn't have any significant scratches or blemishes.

                              Good evening, gentlemen.

                              I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

                              To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

                              4 weeks ago i launched Metro Exodus Enhanced and during cinematic advertisement part ( 30 fps ), pc just shutdown.
                              Also monitor flickered with NO SIGNAL 10 seconds after shutdown. So only monitor and pc was affected.

                              Next i pressed only power button, rebooted again and its fine again. Happened once and i cant reproduce.

                              There's this old LG 1510S LCD Monitor that had 2 issues, one with inverter board and one with image display (mainboard maybe), the issue with the inverter was that when i turned it on it goes off after 1 or 2 secs. and the problem was with the tuner caps on inverter board, after i changed the caps monitor stays on but there's another problem that if I turn it on by the power button, no signal message does not show on the screen, but if I let it stay on and disconnect by the power cable and connect it again the no signal message will appear, and one more thing...the 12V power is 17V before...
