    M170EG01 V.8, AU Optronics screen

started a new thread as the samsung screen is ok and didn't want to keep it going on a different topic,

i have two touch screen computers

No 1. 2 seconds black (flickers when on)
No 2. 30 seconds black (starts fine the begins to flicker but only at bottom of screen)

swapped inverters as one has a slightly builging cap, and the screens do exactly the same

    still
    No 1. 2 seconds black
    No 2. 30 seconds black
    so its not the inverters

the screens are M170EG01 V.8, made by AU Optronics

i'v removed the 2.S.B one to strip down, does anyone know where to get the tubes from?

    screen info here

        Take pictures.

If you are going to get more lcds to fix, there will come a time when some of them are unfixable. Usually if the logic board with the proprietary chip is bad, then it is unfixable.

From those unfixable monitors comes parts like ccfl tubes.

If you are to order ccfl tubes, check ebay as well.

yeah i looked on ebay, sorted the best tubes out and rebuilt it, all the ones we get have been on 24/7 so 9 out of 10 will be tubes most likely.

i broke a screen while it was out (dropped it lol) i have a m170en05 left from a samsung, does anyone have i pin out for it so i can make a loom up to replace the m170eg01 i broke? plugs are same just wired different way round

Re: M170EG01 V.8, AU Optronics screen

the tubes turned up yesterday from CCFL warehouse! all fitted, working and a lot brighter!

altough one of the motherboards has now decided it wont power the screen (not the inverter the actual screen via the onboard screen connector) tested using a known working screen from a samsung syncmaster but its just a blank (white see through) screen, swapped motherboard and tested both screens and they work fine so tested faulty m/board one one last time just incase, no joy it just wont work, has a jumper for 12/5/2.5v power output for different displays so i'll check it actuall gives out a voltage

do screens go black if they have power but no data to drive them?

just thinking it might be ESD that killed it as i got up halfway through building it to do summat and never earthed my self when i came back oh well guess i'v got a spare m/b for another pc as the onboard 15pin vga socket still works lol

oh and for the record AUO screens m170en05 and m170eg01 are same connection just different viewing angle etc, so guess most m170**** are interchangeable.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
              by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
              by smic717394
              Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

              Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
              by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

ipad pro 9.7" blew a SMD component while replacing the screen 🤦‍♂️
              by ipatch
i have an ipad pro 9.7" (1st gen) A1674 where i replaced the screen, but never attached the screen to the frame/chassis (glued down) due to the ipad being previously dropped so the new screen would never fit in the frame properly. so i need flex/bend the chassis to eventually fix the new screen in properly. so i temporarily just applied blue tape around the edges of the screen to keep it in place. when watching videos with the ipad the screen started flicker, so i though maybe the new quasi cheap amz screen i purchased was going out. so i disconnected then reconnected with power still on,...

Trouble to identify part (Lunii screen) for replacement
              by FreakyMex
Hello guys. I'm a complete noob in electronics. I'd like to repair my child Lunii's (a "story box"), basically an audio player that allows the childs to choose between several options the places, characters, objects of the story, and then play a story according to the choice of the child. There is a screen that display the selected option before each choice. The Lunii fell and the screen is now broken.
I'd like to repair it (probably just have to change the part, because the lunii still works perfectly fine) but I can't manage to identify the part/order it online. Do you have any...
