    Score!

This is not a repair help request...yet. Just wanted to share the Craigslist find I just got.

3, count 'em Three pristine LCD's, all with DVI, all nice Samsungs for $20! Oh yeah and throw in an APC UPS for good measure. 2 of them are in their original box, although presumed not working. No screen damage, and already can see the video on 1 with a flashlight....easy fix, while the other widescreen comes on with the menu, but won't reliably turn on each time. Haven't checked the 3rd yet....I'll keep you all posted.

    Lesson here.....watch that Craigslist!

    Re: Score!

Nice. I'm betting at least 2, if not all 3 will work after a re-cap.
36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....

      Re: Score!

Jeez. Around here someone wants $50 for a 22" with what appears to be bad LCD cable, 17 inch ones with missing boards for $20, this is ridiculous. And you got THREE widescreens and an UPS for $20.

This great find offsets getting scammed on the 46" 1080 LG TV with a smashed screen....I only spent $40 on that, and haven't parted it out yet but the guy said it had only one-half the screen out....right....how about it looked like it had substituted for a major league catcher!

Sh*t happens. Anyway i managed to pick up a 19" Samsung for $50 that needed a tremendous amount of work done on it - ONE CAP. The economy here in Romania is quite different from the economy everywhere else, so it was totally worth the price. The panel itself is in perfect shape.

            AT Server Case Score
            by ratdude747
Not posting this in best cheap/free scores because it wasn't particularly cheap... and it isn't ultimatly my score (bought knowing that somebody else on here already agreed to buy it from me, at cost). But it's a cool NOS gem, and since I won't be rehoming it for a while (travel involved), I figured I'd shoot some pics.

$50- NOS AT 4U Server Case/PSU (no Rack Rails):

No idea how old this is... Mid 90's? No idea on the brand either, although the PSU may be a clue in a bit.

Plenty of goodies under the locked cover.

            ThinkPad T400 fan in a 14.1in T61 widescreen?
            by Digi
So, my cheap find has an issue with the fan being rattly, and as a result when I removed the heatsink and fan assembly, the glue and foil has perished from the fan and fins on the heatsink. At the moment I did buy a replacement fan but upon fitting, or trying to, it wasn't even a match.

Now I'm figuring out whether a T400 fan is compatible with my 14.1in T61 Intel-only widescreen, as all I'm looking for is a replaced fan and a working unit again.

I'd appreciate any input on this before I gallivant eBay and the like.

            A1708 820-00840 No boot - trackpad clicks - 20V 0.55amp
            by ahoonid
            Hi everyone.

I have MacBook Pro A1708 with a confusing issue.
The laptop doesn't turn on. Strangely, the trackpad clicks and fan spins. Caps lock doesn't turn on and no chime.

Initially, the amp meter didn't turn on at all on one of the usb c ports. On the other port, I got 20V and half an amp tho (no battery connected).
I replaced the bad CD3215 chip and now it works as well. Both ports turn on with same amp readings.

            The initial issue however remains.
No boot. No backlight. No chime. No keyboard. Only signs of life are clickable trackpad...

            Using Spamassassin
            by willawake
today i am playing with spamassassin. i recently moved all the company email to the same hosts as my website. It is really great to have all the proper hosting features. i am so used to cpanel now.

spamassasin is a great tool and it is really excellent to be able to control it. Previously the ISP was controlling spam blocking for our domain and so some clients email was getting bounced and we end up looking bad. unfortunately like most open source software it does practically everything but you will have to read much documentation before it does.

            here is the spamassassin...

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
            by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...
