Dell P2317H - backlight, no display

Hi friends, got this one basically for free (sold as working but refunded) so interested to have a play about with it.

It powers on but to a black (backlit) screen. Every 10 seconds or so the screen goes dark (power LED stays lit) then comes back on to a black screen again. Rinse and repeat. No response to OSD controls or to input being plugged in. USB ports have power and the display is detected properly and doesn't disconnect if HDMI is plugged into my laptop so it seems to be at least partially alive.

Disassembled but can't find anything obvious wrong. No bad caps, burned components, etc. Been a while since I've been at this kind of repair, life got the better of me for a while, so any pointers on where to start looking would be appreciated!

EDIT - Images here: https://imgur.com/a/Cjkhd0O the panel is a LM230WF9(SL)(A1)

Re: Dell P2317H - backlight, no display

Just checked and the LM230WF9 is getting +5V and +3.3V and the controller board is getting +5V, so it seems like this is a signal transmission issue rather than power. The computer properly detects it and everything, shows P2317H @ 1080p60. I am thinking maybe ribbon cable as it was working when the seller tested it but perhaps was damaged in transit.

EDIT (again): Just tested continuity of the 30 pins on the LVDS cable, all are fine.

EDIT: Did some frankensteining with another monitor with a 30-pin x 2 ch LVDS, the fault is on the Dell's panel - any ideas where to look? I imagine this is going in the trash though!

Final update, it appears to be the SM4047 IC on the panel... after a minute or so of power it gets extremely hot. Replacing QFN is pretty much beyond my abilities (thanks to a tremor) so I'm just going to scrap it.

Dell G3 15 3500 - Battery bug (black screen and flashing keyboard backlight)
        by HTR-Informatique
        Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...

Dell XPS 9500/Precision 5550 - random freeze and no post + display glitches
        by TheQuentincc
        Hi, I have a Dell XPS 9500 which works when it want. Specs : I7 10750H, GTX 1650Ti 4GB, 15.6" 1920x1200.

It can works fine for hours until the screen goes black or the image is fully frozen (laptop unresponsive) or the display is glitched.
Then another issue is sometime the laptop doesn't wanna boot or post at all, after a "clear cmos" (disconnecting main battery and pressing power button for some time) when I'm pressing the power button the keyboard lit up but sometime the laptop display the Dell logo, sometime the screen can just lit black, sometime it launch...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
        by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

        by user11113
        Hello,
        im having a Dell G3 15 3590 (P89F001, servicetag JFJ5MT2) here without a Display assembly / LCD panel.
but when turning it on it blinks 2,7 - display failure.
after buying a 40pin edp cable, i attached a display from my HP laptop but it still wont do anything.
still 2,7 blinks, display stays off. even with the PowerON + D display test.

my plan was to use it without a built in display for a project that has a external one.
it wont boot with a hdmi display or usb-c displayport dock attached too.

i also couldnt find a edid...
