LG Flatron W2353V no power on, nothing.

    Hi folks,
This is my first post. Richard over at YT Learn Electronics Repair recommended this forum in one of his videos. I am learning electronic repair now in my thirties.

I have an LG Flatron W2353V that doesn't power on. It just stopped working from one day to the next. No lights, no nothing, and I don't know how to test the keypad since it doesn't have buttons, just a touch keypad. I took out the power supply board, and am attaching pictures. Some of the capacitors are bulged. I have a multimeter and have tested voltage at several places:

    Capacitors:
    C101: 309V (That's the big one)
    C203: 24.2V
    C204: 5.1V
    C205: 5.1V
    C207: 24.1V
    C212: 5.1V
    C301: 24.1V

    Plugs:
The ribbon plug has voltages as labeled: 5V, 22V and ground. Only, the 22V pins mark about 24V.

The other two-wire white plugs (P401, P402, P403 and P404) don't mark any voltage at all across their pins.

And that is as far as I know what to measure. Is this board fine, and the problem is in the control board? or is there something else that I need to measure to diagnose here?

    Hi Conrado, welcome to BCN!

First replace the bulged capacitors, then we can continue from there.

The voltages might appear OK, but the bulged capacitors means they are failed and not filtering noise properly. When there is too much noise, the logic board may refuse to work properly. So until the capacitors are replaced, there's no point to try to look for any other issues. There's a good chance the monitor will work fine after this, though... unless the bad caps took out a regulator on the logic board (it's possible, but not that common.)

So that's your homework for now: replace the caps.
Make sure the replacements are good low impedance / low ESR type, and preferably Japanese brands. For testing purposes, though, even GP caps might be OK, if that's easier to find where you live.

Hi Momaka, thanks! I will replace the caps, when I can get them, and then I will update again. It will be at least several days for me to get them. Cheers!

LG Flatron W2353V slight red hue and kind of dim.
        by Eh546
The screen has a red hue and is dim, when i try to boost the gamma and turn down the red in the monitor osd, then the blacks are more pale, and the screen has blue hue instead if red. Also even if the brightness is set at 100 in the osd, i can't get the screen to be to be brighter and the white to be white. I also tried to change the color profile and nothing. Can this be because of the capacitors in the power board or the light bulb, or just the lcd panel that is bad?

Heres a video of a dim display fixed by chamging the caps in the power brick. So i don't know if this could be...

LG Flatron starts w. coil whine and power issues
        by Bitvive
        Hi ,

My old LG Flatron recently started with coil beeping. This got worse every day for a few days until it also started having power problems.

Now it also went off again after displaying the LG logo, then on, off again, then on and so on...

So far I have measured the power supply unit, which delivers 19.21V and should therefore be OK. I removed the circuit board and connected it to the mains plug so that I could hear the coil beeping.

During the beeping, I pressed on the coils with a non-conductive tool to see if the sound changed and to find...

LG Flatron 24EN33TA No Backlight When Cold
        by canadaboy25
        Hi all,

I've got an LG Flatron 24EN33TA with a backlight issue. The problem began with the monitor not powering up after sitting for a long time (overnight or during the day throughout work). When I would wake the computer up, the backlight would flick on for a second then go out. Sometimes it would take many tries to get it to come on. Once the monitor came on, it worked flawlessly until another long duration of being powered off.

I thought the problem would be bad caps but I checked both of the caps on the board and they are fine. I also tried powering the monitor from...

LG Flatron L1953TR : CCFL connectors confusion ( forgot to take a photo before disassembling )
        by Ancient1
I forgot to take a photo and now I am not sure how to reconnect
As you can see , I have 2 pairs , each pair has 2 colored wires : the black_ish connector and blue_ish connector
There must be a convention to help decide , I assume

        How do I reassemble ?

        Thanks

        LG Flatron L207WT repaired
        by goodpsusearch
Got this 8 years ago for 10 euros, seller said he tried to repair psu and destroyed it but panel is OK.

Used panel to fix another LG 20" model LG Flatron L204WS that found near dumpster with broken panel.

Used panel of L207 on L204 and kept L207 for parts.

1 month ago troubleshooted Samsung 20" I also found for free, turned out the Samsung had mainboard bad. Tried to reflow, no change.

So, I decided to use the panel of Samsung and try to fix the LG L207 too.

I attach pics after repair of the power supply that...
