    Re: sound driver compatibility

look at the make of the sound chip.
go to the makers website & lookup the part number.

    specially easy if it's realtek.

      what os? windows? linux? other?

also, using your spacebar between sentences would be nice... also, try not to word things like a rant.

        Re: sound driver compatibility

it's pretty safe to say it's windoze given that Linux has all available drivers in the kernel to begin with.

not if it is a higher end creative... my audigy 2 was hell to even make working at all, and when i did, it was a crackle-a-thon... useless.

                Re: sound driver compatibility

the chip is not in the cpu (if you mean the processor). it is either on the mainboard or on a card.

if it is a major brand machine (dell, hp, etc.), post the brand/model... if it is custom, post the main board brand/model. if it is custom, then find the model on the card or post a pic of it... the main chip is easy to find on the card

note- sound chips on semi-newer mainboards are TINY- the size of a wooden pencil eraser head. hence why a model no. is a better bet.

one last trick (this is for all drivers) is to burn a live linux cd (pick a distro, ubuntu will work great), boot off it to desktop, open a termnal and type:

                Code:
                lspci
for non-usb devices and usb controllers

                Code:
                lsusb
                for usb connected devices

note- firewire is neither- i am not 100% sure if there is a command for that.

and find what you need off the list. all it detects is the hardware info, so if the cd does not load the linux driver, it will still show up.

examples from my laptop with ubuntu:
                Code:
                larry@larry-laptop:~$ lspci

and there is your chip model. write it down and reboot back to windows.

go to the company's website and find the driver, if not, google for it, and if you come up dry, post here about it and we will try our best to help you.

                  by LEECH666
                  Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

Hello, this is my first post and im just a beginner, so be easy on me guy. thanks

i have a LED chandeilier that switches colors from white to cool white to warm when toggling the switch, it has 24 LED arms, each arm is 30 CM length.

i have no datasheet at all for the LED lights, all i have is its length.

long story short, testing the chandelier on the ground, and it works fine for 1 - 2 - 6 hours, no problem.

as soon as i fix the chandelier to the ceiling and bury the driver inside the hub,...
