Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Don't bother with the chips, there aren't any good ones available. They're either failed reballed ones or just straight up fakes, and pretty much all the available boards if you can find any will have this fault sooner than later.Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Hi all,
Now I do have a RX-A3010 with the known "no sound" issue on the DIGI-2 board. Reflow of the D81YK113DZKB4 chip did not work so I'm looking for a DIGI-2 replacement board. Checked witn Yamaha support and they checked with HQ Japan but no boards available anymore at no warehouse or repair center. Does anyone has a (working) DIGI-2 board (partnumber WY506200) for sale? In parallel I've ordered the chip and will try to replace it but I would rather swap the complete board for a good one. Appreciate any feedback. Cheers.Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Hello all, new user here. As such, I cannot start a new thread until I post in an existing thread, so here goes.
I have an RX-A3050 with the "no sound" problem and have read this thread with great interest. I have done the factory reset but no change in behavior.
My bench test is to set tuner to AM and listen for static. I only hear it with "Pure Direct" enabled. However, sometimes the sound disappears even in Pure Direct mode.
My next steps are to run through the onboard selftest diagnostics and see what they reveal. However I do not have a service manual for the A3050. I am using the service manual generously posted by FrozenHaxor (I think, sp?) but would like to find the manual for A3050 if possible.
Does anyone have a link to the RX-A3050 service manual they can share?
After this post, I will start a new thread for the A3050 as appropriate.
Thank you. The information on this forum is wonderful as are the people. I have enjoyed lurking and hope to contribute as well as benefit from being here.Leave a comment:

Once you get your scope connected, you should been able to "trace" some signals at key points to determine where things have gone astray.Leave a comment:

I do have a scope but didn't have the time to investigate further.. :-) , hope to do so tomorrow, now I'm working on a DSP-A2070 oldie.. :-) , keep you updated...Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
so you don't have access to a scope? Further, you tested hdmi, but also check R/L rca input at both pre-out and at output. I guess an "easy swap out" isn't so easy... :-)Leave a comment:

Did a quick swap of the operation(2), video(3) and digital(2) (so complete frontpanel including boards) as well, issue still there.Research continues..Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Swapped out the function-1 board and did a factory reset again, issue is still there. Will check some more as Budwich suggested, any other ideas are more than welcome...Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
@Budwich, you're right overlooked that this thread originally is A3010, indeed I'm referring to a 1030.
Sound in 2Ch mode and pure direct when:
- HDMI used
- Phones
No sound:
- Using any other mode than 2ch and pure direct
- from pre-out
As mentioned HDMI board I swapped already but issue is still there.
Next logic step would indeed be to swap the Function-1 board with the chips 701 + 702, see if it works and if yes then look in detail what you suggested. I'll keep you updated.Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Hi all,
I've a RX-A1030 with the folowing issue: no sound through Audio and AV analogue inputs, only sound when 2ch stereo or pure direct is activated (so no sound when I e.g. choose 7ch of Hall in Munich etc.). Hoever when I connect HDMI I've sound in all options (movie, music, eyc.) First suspicion was the DSP chip/PCB so I bought a scrap 1030 with a good functioning PCB (in this one a driver stage was defective (PRT DC: 67), after I swapped the PCB I've performed a factory reset to get the unit to live , ok then I upgraded to the latest FW version 1.98 also ok. However I still have the same issue, no sound on Audio/AV inputs, only in 2ch and pure direct mode. If I use test tone all speakers produce noise. Conclusion: Audio/AV input board seems ok because audio is coming through in 2ch/pure direct mode. PCB seems not to be the issue as it's swapped and I cannot imagine that by coincedence I've 2 boards with exactly the same issue.Any hints, tips, advices are more than welcome!
Quick look at SM kind of points at IC701 (selector IC) as having a problem depending on what signals are seen (ie. pre outs, "inter-chip" signals between IC701 and DSP, and IC702).Last edited by budwich; 06-29-2022, 12:02 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Then swap the blocks one by one until you encounter the faulty assembly. They are extremely modular. You're in the best situation having two of the exact same product with a goal to make one fully working.Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
That would be the easiest way but as I'm repairing as a hobby I would like to understand what causes this specific issue in having no sound... call it "getting experience" :-)Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
I had same no sound and the firmware/checksum for the DSP chip would not show in diagnostics menu. Also I got a bus NG under the C2-1 DSP test menu. Firmware update always failed at S-5 with an update failure 100. I tracked it down to the Digital 2 PCB chip IC521 D81YK113BZKB400 ic chip. I tried to do a a reball and reflow with no luck. The SPi flash chip data appeared to be intact (can't say for sure if it was corrupted or not but it uploaded and reloaded data ok). I was unable to source the original or the D version of the D81YK113BZKB400 chip from a reputable source. Ended up out of pure luck Yamaha 24x7 website had the entire Digital 2 board in stock with D version chip. Cost me $83 for a plug and play board. Part # is WY506200.
This fixed my issue and unit is back running. Hope this helps someone with similar problem.Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Yes it still works! For how long, time will tell.
Before you try, do the self diagnostic test to see if it fails on the DSP2-chip
As I said I did it just as a last resort test before ordering a new Digital2 P.C.B.
I did it very simple, no special installation. Just sat it straight on a wooden board in the oven. Some say it was too warm and to long, some say you should do it in steps from 100°C up to 220°C. This worked for me and how precise can you be with a household oven?
Found out that Texas Instrument had withdrawn the DSP2 chip on my Digital 2 P.C.B from the market because of premature aging and replaced it with another series. That was nothing I could get an acknowledgement from Yamaha Europe on. But that was the case and the fact that my chip is working better as it has never before after the baking might also say something was wrong from the start.
If it fails again after some time I will order a new Digital2 P.C.B
Can you send me a PM with the shop you find to order the PCB?
Thanks a lot SlimMoses!
And please enjoy this Christmas Season!Leave a comment:

Re: Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output
Thanks a lot for your tip. I have the same problem and symptoms with my RX-A3020. I suppose my DSP is also faulty.
Could you please make a schema or a drawing of your installation in the oven. I’m not sure to understand clearly.
Thanks a lot,
Does it still work?

by AlexVGHi.
I have an old YAMAHA CLP-550 without sound. (Some times I can get some kind of noise or distorted sound)
I have replaced all green marked elements, but it gave me nothing.
The IC12 chip LC9116A-105 (red marked) remains under suspicion yet.
But it is custom YAMAHA's chip, and I can't find any information about it.
Maybe somebody came across with the same issue?
Any information will be very useful. I will be very appreciated.
Thank you....-

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!
what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!
i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...-

by maleksaMy Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer recently developed two issues.
Firstly, after booting up, it operates as normal. However, after about 5 minutes, the sound starts to get distorted (broken up screeching sound) almost like putting it through a guitar distortion pedal. After a while, the distorted sounds will go away for a while and comes back. At times, the synthesizer will also freeze I need to power off and on again.
Secondly, when powering off and on again, there will be times where the synthesizer will freeze during the boot sequence (freezes at the MOX8 Opening Screen),...-

by daigsHi,
I need to repair a P-115 yamaha digital piano with a strange behaviour.
When I power on the piano from the dedicated on/off switch, the power led go to ON (red led), but the keyboard doesn't produce any sound, nor in the speakers nor in the headphones.
When I try to power off (pressing the switch for at least 1 second), the keyboard doesn't power off, the red led remains ON. I need to unplug the adapter cable to switch off the keyboard.
I checked the 12V voltage rail on the input PCB, after the power plug and it is OK.
I checked also the...-
