I have 2 cd players that were working and are not now. One is a 1990 pioneer pd-m430. The lens fell out of the laser (common problem) and I put it back it. When I put the disc in the laser adjuster just clicks up and down. The motor does not spin. The motor does work, I checked it. Tried various CD's that I know work. The other machine is a decade newer, Symphonic cd5800 , completely different machine and it does the exact same thing. How strange. I cleaned the eyes on both machines. Both will not spin the discs. Any thoughts.

Re: cd changers not reading cd's
I can see some red thru the lens (yes I am 30cm away from laser) but it wont project onto my hand or a piece of paper. One issue that is the same on both machines is that the cd wont spin. In the repair flow charts it says the laser tries to focus (which they do) and the disc spins (which is doesn't). Its strange.Comment

Re: cd changers not reading cd's
no, usually the laser comes on, and the sensor triggers the system to start the motor because it see's a reflection.
then the system trys to tune the focus by ajusting current to the coils under the lense.
so no reflection detected - no disk spinup.
the paper trick must be thin paper placed directly onto the lense - the laser is focussed only a few mm from the lense.
in theory if you use shiny paper or foil the motor may kick for a second.Comment

by juergenbHi,
i am asking for some Help.
I have one of these Nescafe Aeroccino (Milk Frother) things with a bad motor.
The Motor didn´t start anymore and internet is full of users just swapping the motor for a Mabuchi RF-500TB-12560.
So i got a few of these from Banggood.
I swapped the motor and now i have a new fault condition.
In a working Frother you would press the start button, it will light red and work for a few minutes.
If you press longer it will light blue and just mixup the milk.
With the new Motor it just starts... -
by sbt123hi there,im having a look at repairing a wood lathe for my dad,(charnwood w821)the problem is when turning up the variable speed control, the motor starts to stop and start by itself,if i continue to turn up the speed it will trip the mcb in the consumer unit, there is also a slight smell of burning from the speed controll box.,Another strange symptom is the lathe can be unplugged from the mains after switching it off and the motor will spin a couple of times by itself,so far ive put a new speed controll potentiometer on and new motor brushes, ive also tested the motor windings and everything looks...

by d00m178trying to fix Philips toothbrush 4100 (HX369BK)
The battery started draining quickly.
After disassembling it, I discovered that the motor gets very hot when brush is off, which is apparently causing the battery to lose charge.
The motor is connected to contacts M1 and M2.
When I turn on the brush, 0.4V appears on these contacts, and the motor starts running as expected.
But when I turn off the brush, the voltage changes to 3.8V—exactly the same as the battery.
The motor gets so hot you can't touch it. And after 5 minutes, the battery drains to 0V.

Hello everyone !
I recently conducted maintenance on a Hitachi DA-6000 CD player for my grandparents : it had two distinct issues.
Feel free to share your experience if you ran into other issues.
DISCLAIMER : BE VERY CAREFULL WHEN OPERATING ON THIS SYSTEM : THE HIGH VOLTAGE IS VERY CLOSE TO THE VARIOUS TESTING POINTS, PROCEED WITH CAUTION
CD tray would not come out of the player
I could hear a motor spinning inside the player but the CD tray would not come out.
Turned out that the issue was the CD tray belt that aged poorly and began to...-

by DannyxGood day folks.....wow, seems like forever since I posted anything here
Still alive and well, thank you
I guess you could say I've become more independent and able to work stuff out on my own. This one though goes way over my head and I doubt is fixable, but maybe some bright spark out there has an equally bright idea.
So: my Hilti PD30 laser meter quit on me just the other day. It was working fine, I set it down for a while and when I tried using it again it gave me an E276 and wouldn't do anything else. I tried taking out the batteries, all that standard stuff but nothing... - Loading...
