The heatsink is not connected to the circuit ground, right? Does the heatsink have the electrical connection the Negative power supply?
It sounds like you have bad connection since it works some time.

Checked the connection between the heatsink and transformer input jack pins - none or the 3. Next I started searching for connections through the board and found out that this branch is actually connected to the heatsink.

Another thing that I noticed is that this one jumper maybe touches a diode it shouldn't so I separated them as best as I could. The result was the same.
I don't know what told me to check the fuse again and I found it with a burn mark on it. Checked it and yup it was broken in one of my previous attempts of testing. I am on my way to the electric shop to buy few more of the same kind.

Okay, I'm back. I told the store workers that I need a 0.25A 250V fuse but they don't have the same exact ones so they gave me 0.65A 220V. The markings on the fuse are M530/250C. Is this really fine?

          No, it is not fine.
Until you have a working unit you should not experiment with higher gauge fuses.
Even when you are sure that the unit is operating properly you should not use fuses with higher limits than the ones which the manufacturer specified in the documentation.

The main AC fuse is rated at 0.25A? And it blew the fuse when you did what test?
BTW, so the heatsink is connected to the (-) supply which makes senses since the tab of the IC is for negative supply (-VCC).

I found the exact same fuse. The woofer worked for a whole day. This morning when I started it it wouldn't power on. After opening the case again, disconnected all cables, found two "might be bad" caps. After putting it all together without doing anything else it worked again. And it still works but I guess its just a matter of time for it to stop working again. here are the pics of those two caps, could those be bad? The one has the same orange-brownish goo on and under it, I am guessing its only the secure glue.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                  by PantherDave
                  Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                  Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue

                  Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                  by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
