"No disc" message and typical pickup squeal of "want the disc to start spinning but it doesn't spin!!".
I find the crappy JQ brand motor sadly common in many Sony equipment from mid 2000. They're present in both audio CD mechanisms (KSM213xxx) and DVD (KHM313AAA). They can be exercised with 6V and it usually relive, but with high chances of return. Not worth it.
I've replaced it with a scrapped ol' good Mabuchi RF-310T-11400, adjusting disc support height to exactly 19.4mm (from support top surface to mechanism metal frame), using a caliper.
