    Technics SA-EH770 No Sound

Hello chaps, need some input on this amp here. I brought this faulty originally not turning on, the speakers that came with it are also damaged badly (the actual speakers not the cabinets). After fixing the power problem the amp was not outputting any sound what so ever, the protection circuit engages normally and the sound processor shows the input working however no sound, no Dc at speaker terminals what so ever.

A few minuets later the amp module which is an RSN311W64 device blew up and there is a chip on the module with a hole in it (not fixable) Nothing else is shorted on the amp. Just wandering before I replace this Ic could anything else be causing no sound, normally if the Ic was bad it would throw up an error but no :L

Any input on what to check next is much appretiated. Thank you

Looks like that's another variation of a Darlington pack. Those aren't exactly known for reliability, I've seen a few either go pop on their own or burn up something in the path (like a resistor or trace).

I'd say it's most likely the pack itself was bad which could very easily have destroyed the speakers. I had another Technics amp (SU-something, was BOTL) that had the "no output" until leaving it on for a few minutes until it decided to put a ceramic resistor on fire. Also used packs but an STK 2-channel pack rather than a 6-channel one.

I'd personally not put much effort into this and consider it a writeoff. This isn't exactly a high end setup, basically a home theatre in a box from the early 2000s. For the cost of finding a new pack and then speaker fixes you'll be out the same as you'd be just finding another system that doesn't use the packs.

Thanks for the info buddy, I have found an Ic hopefully it will fix it. The original speakers were smashed up by the owners little child lol however im unsure of how a little girl does something like that to speakers with out going un-noticed. I have the SA-EH790 with respective speakers I was using my speakers to test this amp, luckily the protection circuit actually protected my speakers when the Ic blew.

Hopefully just the Ic is bad and got too hot causing it to explode when I was testing it.

Will let you know how it goes

I finally installed the Ic today almost a year later, and the fucker is fixed

Replaced the RSN311W64A class H amplifier Ic and I have sound output yessssss. Will upload images later on. I need to find the parts like the back cover for this etc and put it all the way together and give it a proper test I still need to rebuild the one speaker but that will come in time

Ryobi 36V (aka 40V) 6Ah Faulty Battery Pack
                by brispuss
Purchased a Ryobi 36V 6Ah battery pack maybe just over a year ago.

Battery pack had been used on about 3 or 4 occasions for powering a cordless lawnmower. I was wanting to use this battery pack again recently, but on checking the battery charge state via the battery pack test button, there was no LED indication at all of charge state which suggested the pack was fully discharged.

I found this to be odd as I usually fully recharge battery packs shortly after use. So either the pack developed some sort of fault which completely discharged the pack cells (after recharging),...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB (Chassis SR) TV Repair Help - Distorted Subwoofer Sound and overall weird sound waveforms
                by LEECH666
                Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

Marian Trace Alpha sound card repair help
                by Christos Tsiligiannis
                Hello to the forum.

My name is Christos, I am new to the forum here and i am posting from Greece.

So i have this old German sound card from Marian, called Trace Alpha. To be exact i have 2 of them and i use them professionally for my small FM radio station here. The first one works like a charm, but the second one does not work at all.

To be more specific in the same exact pc with windows 7 (i even tried 32bit) the one works while the other doesn't.

So i tried asking for a schematic from the company and they would not give me one. Instead they...

Technics SL-PG420A.CDM4/19 whining sound with CD-R
                by Xenon-Codex
It works but a loud whine appears with CD-R discs, but only in the middle of the disc, beginning and the end are silent. Silver cd's do not whine.
It's still present with a different clamp. The player is Technics SL-PG420A. Blue capacitor in the laser circuit is replaced already.
