    Denon AVR-4311CI No Sound

Hi, I have a Denon AVR-4311ci that has no sound. I can hear the relays respond after I turn it on. Even the headphone output does not produce any sound. Mute is NOT on. I am able to navigate to speaker setup and tried the test tone (no sound), I have checked the fuses and none appear blown. The two heat sinks on either side of the transformer get warm when it has been on for a while. The display works fine and will display on a tv when hooked up to HDMI monitor out as well as program material on the Blu-ray disc. I can navigate through the menus and the unit will stay on but it is totally without audio. I have performed a system reset (7 times) and network reset (2 times) with no change in performance.
I would greatly appreciate any ideas as to what the problem could be and possible solutions I haven't tried.
    Thanks,

Judging by no blown fuses and no headphone output, I'd say there is a problem in the audio processing circuitry. Check voltage supplies and regulators on the other boards.

Since there is no error code or shut down, there is no DC in the output stage and the amp section works. Problem is early in some where before the audio gets amplified.

Didn't some Denon's suffer dsp failures on their hdmi boards like some Onkyo's ? You could try blasting that board with heat to see if the sound comes back.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will take your advice and check voltages.

"You could try blasting that board with heat to see if the sound comes back. If I were to try that, how much heat (what temperature) would you recommend? Are you thinking cold solder joints?

To this day I still don't know if the bga joints were failing or the ic itself had manufacturing issues not unlike the nvidia chips perhaps. Just blast it with a hair dryer for 30 seconds or so - no need to reflow just to test out the theory.

Thanks, Tried it, not a peep. Tried with a heat gun till it was hot to the touch but didn't cook anything. I had it set up with a Blu-ray player hooked up to DVD (HDMI 2) and L & R stereo speaker hooked up to main. Video played on the monitor but no sound. I navigated the menu to test tone but still nothing.

Get hold of the service manual perhaps there are some troubleshooting charts in it.

                    Re: Denon AVR-4311CI No Sound

Sure nobody's been in there before? Sounds like a connection either broke loose or wasn't reconnected last time it was worked on. I've found both on units I've worked on (and I've been the culprit more often than not!).

Also, can you inject signal (of appropriate freq and level) to test all your amps channels? If they're good, you need to determine where the unit is losing signal. Good luck.

                      Re: Denon AVR-4311CI No Sound

First, I would do a system reset (detailed in owner's manual). Somewhere in the vast menu system is the option "set to factory defaults". Do that. Next, perform a system update after establishing a network connection. You should get lots of on-screen information during the system update process that might help.
                      Is it plugged in?

Hi, I have a Denon AVR-X3600H I'm trying to repair. I have no electronics repair experience but I have a multimeter, service manual and a will to fix it (https://device.report/m/d5de8c00e617...f63147aba9.pdf)

Everything seems to work except for no sound even through the pre outs. However I will get sound using Zone 2 pre outs.

Only digital symptom I can tell is it will soft lock when in the Speakers/Test Tone menu and be unable to adjust +/- db during the test tone.

I've followed the trouble shooting guide, audio check...

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

                          by LEECH666
                          Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

                          Hello to the forum.

My name is Christos, I am new to the forum here and i am posting from Greece.

So i have this old German sound card from Marian, called Trace Alpha. To be exact i have 2 of them and i use them professionally for my small FM radio station here. The first one works like a charm, but the second one does not work at all.

To be more specific in the same exact pc with windows 7 (i even tried 32bit) the one works while the other doesn't.

So i tried asking for a schematic from the company and they would not give me one. Instead they...
