Yamaha 2064 No sound but Test audio working

    Hello Guys,

    Greetings!

Hope you all are doing well.

I am looking for suggestion on Yamaha 2064. The problem with this receiver is that it has no sound however when the test tones are activated it does outputs from all the speakers. It is working in two channel stereo mode but when you select other sound modes, it doesn't. The last time it had a problem, I had replaced the DAC
    PCM1681DBQR - IC263 and it worked fine.

Other issue with it is one of the STK ICs is getting more heated then the other one but that can be looked at later.

I have injected audio in the AUDIO5 input in my setup and could not find two inputs to the IC263. I only have input (from DSP IC) on the DATA1 PIN6, others DATA PINs 2 and 3 (IC PIN 11 and 12 has no input) in normal operation. Again, when I test it with Test Aution, I get a signal on the pin 11 (DATA2) and DATA3 has no signal.

I have reset the receiver to factory default but to no avail.

Could anyone please suggest, where to look for.

Thank you for reading this post. Please advise, if you have any suggestions.

    Thank you for your help!

    Regards,
    Hemant

It's been awhile so not sure if you have shorted this out or not. Anyway, IC263 is fine. I would look into DSP firmware with self diagnostic mode.

      Hi ngvuanh,

      Thank you for checking.

      I did go through the Self Diag mode and I am getting these two parameters, as follows;

T1 Bus: NoEr and EEPROM Bus: OK

Did i check what you requested. Also, I checked the analog audio input ( from Audio5 Input is reaching the capacitors, C2634 and C2641 and I think they are heading towards the PCM2611 (IC261).

I'll check the input and output of this IC261 and let you know.

      Thank you for your help!

      Regards,
      Hemant

Also, I observed one thing that the IC262 (from the schematic) is not present on the top side of the PCB. Please see attached. Am I looking at the correct service manual 😨

Wow, I would clean the board first thing first.

            Hey ngvuanh,

Thank you for including this step. I did clean the control PCB but the result is same. But for sure, the board is different than the one we are reffering to in the schematic.

The board has PCM9211 (which is marked as IC261), which includes the ADC. I checked the ADC input at pin 48 and 49 and it is there. The outpu at the pins 17,18,19 and 20 is also showing some sort of band type signal on the Oscilloscope. I have attached the PCM9211 datasheet for your reference.

As a last resort I am thinking of changing the IC263 but that is too far unless confirmed.

Please suggest, what else to look for. ☺

            Thank you,
            Hemant.

You would need to confirm your unit exact model. Then find service manual to review block diagram for audio, digotal/analog.
I don't think you wanna touch ic263 because it is DAC, and your test tones played on speakers. You also replaced it, so it is fine.

                Yamaha RX V675 sound issues
                by jjne
I have an old Yamaha RX V675 receiver which is starting to develop issues with the sound, although it doesn't quite match up with what folk normally report with these.

From cold, the sound cuts in and out. When this happens the amp is losing sync with the optical input (speaker graphic disappears from the front panel). But this is not resolved by putting the unit into pure direct mode. After a couple of minutes this resolves, although there are occasional clicks from the speakers after that.

At first I thought it was either a speaker relay or the DSP, but I don't think...

                YAMAHA CLP-550 without of sound
                by AlexVG
                Hi.
I have an old YAMAHA CLP-550 without sound. (Some times I can get some kind of noise or distorted sound)
I have replaced all green marked elements, but it gave me nothing.
The IC12 chip LC9116A-105 (red marked) remains under suspicion yet.

But it is custom YAMAHA's chip, and I can't find any information about it.
Maybe somebody came across with the same issue?
Any information will be very useful. I will be very appreciated.
                Thank you....

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Yamaha MOX8 boot freeze and distorted sound
                by maleksa
My Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer recently developed two issues.

Firstly, after booting up, it operates as normal. However, after about 5 minutes, the sound starts to get distorted (broken up screeching sound) almost like putting it through a guitar distortion pedal. After a while, the distorted sounds will go away for a while and comes back. At times, the synthesizer will also freeze I need to power off and on again.

Secondly, when powering off and on again, there will be times where the synthesizer will freeze during the boot sequence (freezes at the MOX8 Opening Screen),...

Yamaha RX-A1030 working, no sound output
                by Rupsenkind
Hi all, I've started this new thread in order to avoid further polution of thread "Yamaha RX-A3010 working, no sound output"
                Just to recap:

No sound through Audio and AV analogue inputs, only sound when 2ch stereo or pure direct is activated (so no sound when I e.g. choose 7ch of Hall in Munich etc.). Hoever when I connect HDMI I've sound in all options (movie, music, eyc.) First suspicion was the DSP chip/PCB so I bought a scrap 1030 with a good functioning PCB (in this one a driver stage was defective (PRT DC: 67), after I swapped the PCB I've performed a factory...
