Attempt to build a speakers switch box
I am not really sure is this the best place for this question, but this section seems most suitable. Sorry if I am wrong.
Situation is following:
I have a Technics SA-TX30 integrated receiver that worked for last 15+yrs in conjunction with JBL satellite set Music 10 + Movie 10. Now there is a new device, a Sony STR-DN1040. The same set of speakers should stay and there should come a set of bookshelf speakers. I want an opportunity to switch one of the devices to any of the speaker sets.
I have some ideas what to build and how. I also know that there are some unwanted states, but I do not know which of them are dangerous.
What happens when a receiver loses a connection to speakers and gets other speakers connected a few seconds later? Should the receivers be switched of while preforming the switch procedure?
Both receivers in question have A and B speaker channels, so can they be harmed if the channel where the speakers are being disconnected and connected is turned of, or must the receiver be completely turned off?
I would use the answers to answer the questions about the logic of a switch box, make before brake or brake before make. Are there some other concerns that I am not aware of? Could you point me to some article, where I can read about it (I have searched on the web and here, but I have not found much; I may have used wrong keywords)?
