    Hello all,
I'm having a problem with this unit in that every time the unit turn on it will short out the resistor R601 and R602 (see attached). Alreay tried to replace the resistor but it still short out.... Would welcome to any ideas/suggestion to anyone... Thanks in advance.

Never mind... The unit has been fixed... There was a bad IC uPC2785v that causing the resistors shorted.

Asus ROG ga401IV motherboard - AC Short Protection resistor getting hot
      by gaelican
      Hi,

I am working on an Asus ROG laptop repair. I was able to find that there is a short on the motherboard, and the 20 volts from the charger only gets to the first mosfet before disappearing.

When looking around with a thermal camera, I noticed the chip marked "14C" in the picture was getting warm. Nothing else was receiving heat.

I found a boardview diagram and schematic for a motherboard that looks nearly identical, that has the same component. This appears to be marked as "AC Short Protection" with a value of 13.7KOhms.

      Happened again. Resistor go short!
      by CapLeaker
That's now the second time in my repair career that a through hole resistor go short!
it was a Vishay CPF124K900FHB14 1W resistor measuring new 24.9kohm. <- notice the KILO ohm. Well now it measures 28.1 Ohm! See picture and PDF attached. This is something very rare happening, but apparently it does happen!...

Replacing resistor fuse in Sony DV charger
      by corrize
Hello, I have 2 old chargers for Sony DV, and I found the same resistor fuse dead. Fuse is a crossing component : 0,47 Ohms (0,125W deduced because the lenght is 3mm). But I can’t find the same for buy.
So, I want to replace by another like 0 Ohms, 1 Ohms 0,125W,

It is the same please ? I guess it’s the same, the only change should be the time to burn ? Thanks...

      Sony Bravia KD-50X690E blown resistor
      by x_orange90_x
I just picked up this tv yesterday and the previous owner said while watching tv he heard a loud a pop and then the screen went dark. I removed the back cover and found the source rather quickly; resistor R8601. A chunk of the ceramic had blown off exposing the inner wire. Due to the damage I cannot make out the colors of a couple bands. I likewise cannot find a datasheet for the power supply. I tried pulling up pictures of the same board online but the resistors have different colored bands which I half expected as I've had this happen before.

      The power supply is 715G8413-P01-001-0H2S...

Extreme High Current & Low Voltage Short Killer ??
      by DynaxSC
      Hi Folks

I'm looking for a extreme high current short killer solution for a reasonable cost.

I have an LGA1700 motherboard (ASUS PRIME Z790-P WiFi) where I exchanged the LGA socket already 3 times, and every time after the socket exchange I get a short of power supply lines VCORE (V variable) and VCCIN_AUX (1.8V).
After taking off the socket, the shorts dissappear again.
The soldermask on the socket is already partially demaged from the heat, so I have reconstructed the soldermask by manually painting the missing soldermask parts with a very small top of a...
