Picked this amp up for free off craigslist and they said they heard a pop and now the whole control was dead. I did some tracing and came to this part and then the trail ended there, so I think this is the problem maker. The part is so old that I can't find much about it. HELP!

Re: Yamaha CR-620 | POP! And no sound...
That's a transistor 2SD234, probably used as a voltage regulator in the amp. 60V 3A B=40-240. Many substitutes like TIP41A, MJE3055T, TIP31A is lower gain.
But you still have to find out what went pop. How are the capacitors and other transistors looking? Unless the pop was heard in the speakers. -

Re: Yamaha CR-620 | POP! And no sound...
Budm, thanks for digging for the schematic
Ritalin I think you are off track. TR802 is the +30V regulator for the preamp stuff (phono preamp, tone controls) and it also gives bias to the power amp diff amp. But nothing I could see would load it down' it does not drive anything without big resistors. If the vreg is overloaded, it would get real hot and burn up.
You can try a tip31 i think it would work. make sure the Zener is ok giving 29v to the base.
If you have some voltage measurements that helpsComment

by jjneI have an old Yamaha RX V675 receiver which is starting to develop issues with the sound, although it doesn't quite match up with what folk normally report with these.
From cold, the sound cuts in and out. When this happens the amp is losing sync with the optical input (speaker graphic disappears from the front panel). But this is not resolved by putting the unit into pure direct mode. After a couple of minutes this resolves, although there are occasional clicks from the speakers after that.
At first I thought it was either a speaker relay or the DSP, but I don't think...-

I have an old YAMAHA CLP-550 without sound. (Some times I can get some kind of noise or distorted sound)
I have replaced all green marked elements, but it gave me nothing.
The IC12 chip LC9116A-105 (red marked) remains under suspicion yet.
But it is custom YAMAHA's chip, and I can't find any information about it.
Maybe somebody came across with the same issue?
Any information will be very useful. I will be very appreciated.
Thank you....-

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!
what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!
i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...-

by hemant_2222Hello Guys,
Greetings!
Hope you all are doing well.
I am looking for suggestion on Yamaha 2064. The problem with this receiver is that it has no sound however when the test tones are activated it does outputs from all the speakers. It is working in two channel stereo mode but when you select other sound modes, it doesn't. The last time it had a problem, I had replaced the DAC
PCM1681DBQR - IC263 and it worked fine.
Other issue with it is one of the STK ICs is getting more heated then the other one but that can be looked at later.

by maleksaMy Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer recently developed two issues.
Firstly, after booting up, it operates as normal. However, after about 5 minutes, the sound starts to get distorted (broken up screeching sound) almost like putting it through a guitar distortion pedal. After a while, the distorted sounds will go away for a while and comes back. At times, the synthesizer will also freeze I need to power off and on again.
Secondly, when powering off and on again, there will be times where the synthesizer will freeze during the boot sequence (freezes at the MOX8 Opening Screen),...-
