Hi

Can anybody help with Technics Service Manuals?
I live in the UK and have acquired;
1 of SL-P222A CD Player with optical O/P
1 of SA-GX200L Receiver

The CD player appears to be ok
I have serviced the decent Philips CDM4/19 transport
Will probably use a modern DAC with it, if it O/Ps S/PDIF - should do.
The receiver is only playing mono.
Appears the balance control is not working correctly
It is a bit scratchy - so deoxit or replacement

Any help appreciated

Replace or clean, or disassemble then clean and retension the pot wiper arms and tracks it wipes if external spray cleaning is not enough. It could be that only the balance, or maybe volume pot also needs cleaned and tensioned.

I'm suggesting maybe you don't need a service manual at all. For pot replacement just note the pin spacing, pot values, and order some equivalent part rather than the original.

If that doesn't solve the problem then the next suspicion would be the output transistor on the channel that doesn't play, trace back from that jack to the transistor and see if there is output there, or an input (drive) on it's base pin. If no drive current, trace back to the prior transistor in the chain or IC chip, whatever it's using.
