Marantz m cr611. Switches off. No stby.

    Hi
Bit of a weird one. Unit will only stay on for a few minutes and functions correctly while it's on. Output to speakers normal. Then switches off. No power, no standby, unit is dead. 10 minutes later, it can be turned back on and functions normally again. It's not generating any heat. Has anyone seen anything similar ?

Could be that the standby is failing, download the service manual and check the voltages. C874 or C873 could be bad.

The standby circuit produces P_VCC_IN for the other circuits in the power supply, so if the standby circuit shuts down, the rest of the unit will as well. and since the standby circuit is operating 24/7 I would suspect it first.

Pulled it apart. First inspection looks like caps open and ice3br1765j is fried. Scorch marks on bottom of board.

If the unit is still turning on, the ic should still be ok, just replace the caps and re-solder the ic pins. The IC is running all the time and does get hot, so over time it discolors the board
It is possible there are poor connections on the ic that were causing the ic to shut down. Inspect all the connections on the power supply board such as the transformer and the other ic's etc.

Thanks for the help. Both drain connections look rough. I’ll re flow most of the hot side and see where we are

I'm just experiencing exactly the same for the first time. I'll try the same fixes. any tips gratefully received, as I've not opened the set up yet?

It's not too bad to pull apart. Power supply is the bottom board. I'll pass on anything I find.

Found exactly same scorch mark so reflowed just those dry looking pins. The large cap looked fine and tested OK, so left it. It still shuts off from standby. Very disappointing

SUCCESS!! replaced the ICE chip and it works perfectly. thanks Fritter for great suggestions. Had to buy 10 chips - can I send one to you? if so send address to tom@tomwilkinson.com

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died

This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

Sony Bravia XBR-65x900f: No Power, No Standby-light - however 3.3v STBY is present
                          by SkishyIshy
                          Hey All,

                          I have a Sony 65x900f that I purchased cheap because of a no-power issue.
I assumed that because there is no standby light visible, it would be an easy fix - however upon opening up of the unit I can confirm that the 3v3 standby voltage is making it's way from the power supply to the main board. I'm a little confused as to why there is no standby light.

I am firstly wondering if anyone has this model of TV, or has worked on one and can give me some insight. I have tried to find a service manual for this model, to no avail - and would really appreciate...

Marantz SR4023 - stuck in standby
                          by gfosterCA
                          Hi folks.

I've checked KEY1 at the CPU and voltage is dropping as expected when the front panel button is pressed.

I'm unclear as to whether voltage should be present or not on P-FAIL in a good state.

Suggestions on test points for healthy voltage ?

Relay activates manually when DCPS voltage applies. Where is the standby relay activated from in CPU, WAKE ?

                          Thank you.

                          Greg.

Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
                          by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

                          Samsung BN44-00259A standby question
                          by Crystaleyes
                          Hi all.

I started a thread while back regarding TV power supply standby circuitry as it is something I am not quite on top of.
SMPS theory and function is becoming more familiar, however the standby part is still a bit of a mystery.

Anyway, a friend has this TV with the above mentioned power supply board which has no standby voltage, nor any other voltages leaving the board.
The mains AC comes in fine, gets filtered and rectified with power is on the main filter cap as well as the transformer and drain pins of the ICE3B0665J, but that's it.
