    Noble potentiometer assembly

    I had taken out the pot for my Denon DAP-5500 as it was scratchy and would sometimes drop a channel til I would work it and would come back for few days. Decided I had time today and would just desolder from board and disassemble and clean properly. My only issue is I forgot to take a pic of the orientation of each of the white parts and how they were aligned. Due to the shape of the rod and the cutouts on each white piece they can only go one of two ways. I did have frame of mind right after I took off the first (back) and I know how that last white piece was orientated, note the main shaft is turned to "max volume" in that photo. Does anyone know if the other three white pieces are in same orientation or if not which way each should be orientated on shaft when reassembling from front to back.

    Basically I just need to know if all the wipers are oriented the same way when reassembling on the shaft.

      I think it's like this pic. Like a sandwich - all layers are the same, just stacked.

      Make sure to eyeball the spring height(s) on the wiper, they should all be the same unless one got bent. Especially the lone one. If there is any oxidation on them, I wipe them on a piece of paper lightly to clean that off.

      I use DeOxit Faderlube on the pot internals and then oil or grease the shaft depending on the feel wanted. Usually oil lube is there that can get thick.

            If the pots are still noisy... this can be due to DC current flowing throught them if there is a little DC offset.
            There are two trimpots VR301, VR302 on the KU-9103-4 board if it's in "Source Direct Off" (I think otherwise the relay bypasses that board).
            Denon call it the "Boost Amp Neutral Point Adjustment".
            There's a second downstream offset adj. "UGI Amp Neutral Point Adjustment" to do as well.

            If you find any temperamental scratching, due to temperature etc. with the many JFETS this preamp has, then do the adjustments. Easy to do with a multimeter.
