LG fridge compressor not starting
Hello everyone, my old but loved LG GR-642 stopped cooling and frosting all together.
The display shows everything as normal, the focused cooling activated when I open the doors but the compressor wont start.
First I measured the terminals on the compressor at the back of the fridge. 0 volts.
Now I disconnected the compressor and measured resistance on its leads: around 8 ohms.
I dissassembled the main powerboard, couldn't find anything suspicious but I noticed that the comps relay wont send voltage to the pin, while Fan H and fan L is indeed at 230V.
I removed the relay from the circuit and measured the correct resistance on its coils and I could turn it on with my lab psu.
What could cause this problem guys?
Thank you!Tags: None

by Liam.25Hello,
our fridge and freezer stopped cooling last weekend, it’s a Beko fridge.
looking at the bottom, I can hear the relay clicking on the plug attached to the compressor.
There is also a 3uf capacitor, I’m thinking this is a run capacitor, I tested this with my fluke and and it measured at 1.5uf, so I replaced this (new one tested just over 3uf) so that’s where it should be.
I was thinking this was the issue. The compressor seem to run for like a minute then shutoff again.
inside the relay, there is a Klixon 4tm thermistor,...4 Photos -
by mon2Singing the blues with a bad linear compressor on my LG fridge so the house is in turmoil. LG was apparently sued over the '10 year warranty' that we fell for as the best in the market but then they want to charge (locally) ~$700 CAD to install the new 'under warranty' compressor. After major complaining about ethics, they may be granting us a service favor @ ~$250 (CAD) for the same service. Spoiled food and no fridge. Fun times.

by mikey5791Hi all forum members,
Few days ago, i might have forgotten to close my home fridge freezer door completely. The next day, the ice cubes and frozen meat almost melted halfway and the freezer doesn't feel cool. I shut it off, wipe dry and let it air dry for one whole day. The next day i switched on the fridge, the compressor run for a second and it shuts off(no vibration and no sound at all) only the internal freezer compartment fan is running but is not cooling even i switched on a full day.
After shut off, i dismantle the rear water pan holder and reached to the compressor wiring.... -
by CG2To be a bit more specific, I've got a 20-ish year old Liebherr that has just stopped working. This was quite a sophisticated beast for its time. It's a twin compressor model, and you set the desired temperatures of the fridge and freezer parts from a couple of little control panels above the door. It displays the actual temps on some eight segment displays there, flashing if it's working to get to where you want it. There's a control board with a microprocessor on it that read the temperature from a couple of sensors, switches the compressors on as necessary, and runs the display. There's also...

by edugimenoHi everyone!
I have this board that suddenly stopped supplying power to an output that drives an interchanger cleaner motor.
I checked while the board was in place with all wires attached and there's no AC voltage on the corresponding plug X5
This X5 is driven by fuse F8 (tested OK) which comes from the second orange relay
To make sure there are no charcoaled contacts inside the relay, I got a 24VDC power supply and got it ready to manually power up the coil side of these relays.
I respected the polarity, positive to cathode of protecting diode
So provided all... - Loading...
