    Kenwood Chef KVC50 / KVL60 / KVC5000 / KVL6000 / KVL6030 / KVL6050 kitchen machine repair

    Hello,

I am attempting to repair a KVC50 kitchen machine. Problem is that speeds 1..5 on the speed dial do not work at all (motor is not engaged). The 'reverse' and 'slow' settings on the same dial however work properly. I removed the dial, its PCB components seems to be basic: a potentiometer, a microswitch, a couple of LEDs and a couple of SMD diodes or transistors. The dial has three cables with three connectors that hook up to the motor controller PCB. One connector (3 pins) for speed, one connector (5 pins) for the LEDs, and one connector (2 pins) for a safety switch that is mounted on top of the dial.

I measured the resistance using a DVM over the 3-pins connector, and did not get consistent results. I also measured directly over the potmeter, that gave consistent and expected results. Thus I suspect some sort of connection problem. However. The dial PCB is painted, so the underlying pcb traces are not visible. I am unsure if the 3 leads of the potmeter should simply route to the 3 pins of the 3-pin connector, or if there is perhaps an active component (eg a diode or transistor) in-between.

I turned my attention to the motor controller PCB and thought: what if I connect a potmeter to the 3-pin terminal (CN107), would the machine then work properly. But: I had no pin-out of that connector on the motor controller PCB.

I contacted Kenwood Europe for schematics and got denied, response was that if they'd share schematics, they'd be liable for accidents. I wonder if that is a viable reasoning. I then escalated to sustainability@delonghigroup.com but so far got radio silence.

I proceeded to reverse-engineer part of the motor controller PCB in order to discover the 3-pin terminal assignments (CN107). See attached image in which I used an image editor (Gimp) to overlay the component side of the PCB onto the solder side. Perhaps it is useful for another soul in the future.

My question would be: can anyone confirm that the potmeter 'dial' is a simple 1:1 connection to the 3-pin cable/connector emerging from the dial ?

    Thanks, Roland.

Device works randomly for 1 sec for every 20 trial
so it is not really dead
by removing the relay top and pushing its mechanism the motor works normally but ofcourse while bypassing the speed control
I am not sure if the relay was the issue or something else
I have a question, how this relay works when I cant see any 24vdc supply
on the pcb to power it
hope to hear from you guys
here is video for how i bypassed the relay

Kenwood KR-6030 vintage stereo ,Old Man Trying to Save a Buck
    by DrDos
Hello all. I'll try to keep this short. I have no knowledge of electronics. I can use a multimeter and am familiar with caps to some extent. I bought a Kenwood KR-6030 vintage stereo. It need work and so I thought I would recap the thing since I get power to the on switch but nothing else is working. No lights, no sound and so forth. I went to Mouser to order caps and I find I am way over my head. I not only do not know the type of capacitors I need but Mouser and digikey do not accept Kenwood part numbers. I have the info such as 220uF 63v and such but no place to put it. I could buy a recap...

KENWOOD KA-701 POWERS ON, NO RELAY CLICK
    by rccrasher65
I'm looking for some help, sorting out a protection circuit fault on my Kenwood KA-701 integrated amp. The amp does turn on , but the relay don't click. It usually ends up being, a transistor, or cap on the protection circuit, DC offset problem. I can't read schematics real well, and the ones I have are really bad quality. There are no good quality one's I have found so far. Looking for some professional help. Blue Midnight helped me a lot in the laptop forums, but It's been a few yrs, like 6 or so. I don't even know if he's on here or if anyone does the amps, but any help navigating throught...

Suggestion On Where to Look. Kenwood KA-35000 amp
    by VHAALNPATTET
I have a Kenwood KA-35000 amp. I've recapped all the electrolytic capacitors recently. When I first turn the unit on I get a few second hum and a small pop sound on speakers and then silence. I am able to play music, etc without an issue after wards. Because it occurs only at the initial powering up each time and only last a few seconds I am having trouble figuring out how to troubleshoot.

The one other thing I noticed that during the powering off there is a slight hum and quiet pop sound. This I hadn't noticed before. The KA-3500 has a muting circuit that when unit is powered off...
