    A curious LED lamp...

I found a LED "sealed beam" 2-terminal floodlight bulb, about 4" diameter, that apparently is 6W at 12V. It's fairly bright, but that's not what was interesting. Looking into the diffuser lens, it didn't have a typical yellowish fluorescent material in it that's typically used for LEDs to make white lamps.

Odd I thought, but when I powered it up it became apparent what was going on - this lamp is a RGB LED lamp using distinct LEDs! What was weirder...

At 6V, it lit up red with their lowest Vf.
Then at ~8V it lit up yellow when the green LEDs turned on.
Then finally at 10V or so, it's fully white when the blue LEDs turned on with their highest Vf.

Then going past 12V, it started taking less current as the internal SMPS probably converted voltage to current and reduce current consumption.

This is the weirdest bulb I've ever seen ... it's a voltmeter in itself much like someone can guess voltage depending on brightness/yellowness of an incandescent bulb. In this case you can tell by looking at the color output.

I wonder if a lot of these low voltage specialty bulbs are like this now?

BTW, though it looks like a "sealed beam" I highly doubt it's really sealed and will leak water...

Is it an automotive type LED or some other type of LED

My guess is that it's for one of those emergency lights when the power goes out.

Whether this lamp is truly rated for such emergency use is also questionable, though due to the questionable water tightness of the lamp, it may not be good for automotive use.

Hmm. Questionable. I like questionable. I like "let's throw it outside at the mercy of nature and see if it sticks".

Corsair K70 LUX RGB dying LEDs
            by Pipolups
            Hi there !

I'm having an issue for several weeks with my quite old K70 LUX RGB keyboard. I haven't used it for few months, and once I setup up again my desktop computer, I got several dead LEDs on that keyboard. I tried the Corsair troubleshooting thing (disabling options in iCUE, ...) but nothing changed so I conclude that for some reason some LEDs went in retirement...😅
Decision taken to change these LEDs as I have access to desoldering iron and binocular magnifier, I wrote a ticket to tech support, hopping to obtain the LEDs reference and... They refused to tell me 🙄...

            LUMIMAN Smart Bulb IC ID?
            by ezenia
            Hi,

I have a LUMIMAN Smart Bulb that suddenly stopped lighting one day. The bulb is still detected in the app, but won't light. I've probed around and nothing seems to look off with any of the diodes, caps or resistors. The Bluetooth/Wi-Fi module seems to be working as it's still detected in the app. I even tried deleting and re-pairing the bulb (it didn't light, but I was still able to follow the pairing instructions), it re-paired fine, but still no light.

In diode mode, the LEDs all light up when probed so I'm guessing this means the LEDs themselves are OK. I was expecting...

Epson 5040UB Projector No Lamp Strike Stuck in Startup - Blinking Status/Lamp Lights
            by vestaviascott
Hoping someone here can put me on the right track. I'm trying to troubleshoot/flowchart the "internal projector error" on my newly acquired Facebook Marketplace bought Epson 5040UB projector (3LED, not DLP). Owner said it needed new lamp, actually error code blink pattern indicates "Internal Projector Error, call Epson support". Unit is out of warranty as of 8/19

            Here's what happens:

            1) Power on
            2) Blue power indicator lights and the lens cover motor opens the lens cover, light fan noise heard
            3) Blue status light flashes for appx 4 minutes...

TOSHIBA DLP 52HM95 How to reset timer module on bulb
            by repair-it
I replaced the bulb only on my Toshiba DLP The bulb is a TB-25. This is the first time I've done a bulb only replacement. Supposedly there is a timer module that needs to be re-calibrated or reset. I don't know where the module is located. I see some vendors selling the bulb with the housing stating module included which leads me to think the module is located inside the enclosure the bulb mounts in, but I didn't see it. Maybe it's inside the plug attached to the bulb?

Anyway - I am seeking information on how to reset this so called module so that the lamp will operate. Apparently...

BenQ TH681 Originally overheating now wont fire the lamp - Colour wheel not starting
            by AJ847.63e
            Hi All.

Does anyone have any reference materials or something I can use to try troubleshooting a BenQ TH681? Google unfortunately has turned up zip. I did find a service manual for a W series BenQ but that is pretty much useless, it's more a glorified user manual. A list of voltages would be great as I suspect my mainboard is faulty, the colour wheel voltage is not dipping like it should.

The one I am troubleshooting now was originally overheating after a lamp replacement. It originally would take 2 minutes or so for it to shut off and blink the temp and lamp lights...
