How low can germanium voltage drop be acceptable?

Just a question regarding the technical characteristics of Germanium:

I have four vintage germanium AD 161 & 162 transistors which all read just under 100mV voltage drop yet come up as fine on the component tester, so I'm wondering how low can this go with germanium devices and still be ok?

Only asking as I've never seen such a low volt drop...

The ones which are sold in the shops here read around 400mV, so I am assuming these are silicon remakes?

Here is the 1970/71 datasheet from Siemens. You may have to look up a few German words. Most everything else is in graphs, currents, voltages emitter base collectors.

The datasheet says VBE 120-150mV at 5mA and because your multimeter diode-test current is probably 1mA, you would get an even lower reading i.e. 100mV

        Thanks, redwire.

          Thanks for the replies.

After checking with other meters it appears that the DMM I used does in fact read particularly on the low side.
The component tester seems to think they are ok so I'll just leave them alone and remember this for the future.

          Case closed

            Hi,
Have a Macbook A2179 with liquid damage. Customer showed it some shop which has done an ultrasonic cleaning of the board.
The board pulls 0V but doesnt turn on. No Fan SPIN. NOT IN DFU.

I checked the Power Sequences below and found this -

Once a valid external power source (Charger or battery) is connected, the following rails will come online.
PPBUS_G3H: Normal voltage is ~12.6v on the charger with the battery disconnected. Produced from the ISL9240 (U7000, which uses PPDCIN_G3H as its VIN.
PP3v3_G3H_RTC: Normal voltage is ~3.3v. Produced...

MOSFET maintains voltage drop across G and S only for 3 seconds
            by digitalDNA
            Hello,

While trying to fix an SMPS, I hear a ticking sound.
I've checked all capacitors, but none seem to be shorted.

I then suspected an issue with the flyback transformer which has 3 leads on the primary (used in a push-pull configuration ?) and one of them, which is always connected to GND has a resistance reading in the order of Mega ohms with any of the other 2 leads on the primary.

But I thought let's check the MOSFETs first::

The circuit also contains a PFC circuit, controlled by a UCC3818D (D stands for the SMD version),...

MacBook Pro A2251 - 820-01949 Voltage Drop and unkown issues.

            Hello forum,

I'm still relatively new to the world of electrical repairs.

I have a Macbook here that I can't figure out

When the battery is gone, the USB input consumption goes up to 20 V and 0.06A. But it breaks down after about 2-3 seconds and you can also hear a small ticking on the logic board. But I can't pinpoint it exactly.

I removed the logic board and took a few measurements.

But I can't really figure it out.

At first I thought the infamous CD chip was defective - but then of course you read more on the internet...

Trip light 2400 watt line conditioner bought used issue with low voltage oscillation going on between relays
            by sam_sam_sam
I found two capacitors on the board and one of the leads on one capacitor had bad soldering joint and the other joint connections not much better and there were several soldering joints that way to much flux around the joint redid several of them

The capacitors were a non brand that I did not recognize they got replaced and now it does not oscillating between relay but what concerns me a little bit is when the voltage is a little bit low the output voltage is around 130 volts and then drops down to 115 volts this happens around 105 to 108 volts if remember correctly

            Now...
