just keep in mind that a $4 usb psu will probably go boom at some point or make your circuit live!

This unit works pretty good I can select every voltage that it says that it can do

I know that I not going to use a cheap charger unit for this purpose
but I do have admit that it is a real temping to do this idea that you have do you have any charger in mind so could do what I have below—>

I have not seen factory smoke lately and having withdrawals from not seeing any

i use an imax-B6 clone to get 80w and upto 24v in 0.1v steps.
there is a nice clone with the added function of variable voltage & current psu-mode.
(and an XT60 output connector - which is really good!)

DO NOT BUY THE PSU WITH IT.
it's a 1.5A delta supply re-housed in a 5A shell.
good supply - but not if you need 5A!!!
