i just have the part of plastic that holds the cooler in place broken off so i thought of fixing a manifactured part of plastic (made bby me ) stuck on there with hot glue ? has anyone ever done this?

Yes. I've repaired and made my own brackets and holders for both Intel and AMD boards.

I also had the top plastic part of an AMD retention bracket break off once. FYI, PVC glue works very well for certain computer plastics - mainly for ABS and sometimes PC (polycarbon). Whatever you glue with that will hold as if the plastic never broke.
