By "see through"/"clear" is your goal to just show that there is "interesting stuff" inside? Or, do you actually want to SEE the interior in good detail -- like you would through a "plastic window"?

Most of the printing technology that I've seen won't give you the "uniformity" that you'd need to be able to see much detail through it (owing to the printing process itself).

My impression of current technology is that it's more of a "tinker's toy" in the price ranges most folks can afford. You need a professional service bureau to get access to better equipment/technology/materials. Look for a local Maker House (or similar). They will often do these jobs (or let you do them, after instruction) for the price of materials and/or a small shop fee.

There are also on-line services that can do what you need -- for a fee.

Bottom line, you'll need to prepare some CAD to drive their printer. They'll be able to quote, based on an examination of your design (estimate materials required, time to print, any potential "problem areas" in your design, etc.)

I don't think you want a 3D print. Can you post a pic of the project.

I have done laser-cut acrylic with UV text or laser engraved text. 3/32"-1/8" cast acrylic is very durable. The text is reverse on the back-side of the plastic so it does not rub off. If laser etched you can fill the text with paint. UV dye I think is black colour only.

Pololu in Las Vegas Nevada does really nice laser cutting service. Setup fee is $25 plus materials and shipping.
There are sample enclosures on their website, I found it was no hassles.

You just need a Corel or AutoCAD drawing.
