Are you sure it's a fault in the ECU and not an error code being THROWN by the ECU (e.g., a faulty sensor/actuator detected BY the ECU)? I.e., what symptoms are you chasing? (magic smoke leaking out of one of the controllers would suggest a fault in the controller; most other problems are typically the controller referencing something ELSE that is "wrong")

        Make/model??

          Re: Auto engine management ecu

I have done quite well from offering repair services for these in the past, depends a lot on make / model and fault details though, most of the faulty units that have come my way for repair oddly enough down to leaking electrolytic's and corroded pcb's.

                I've done two.
A 1998 Suburban. Bad caps, no leaks, electrically leaky and dropped in value. Still trying to get paid for that one.

A 1996 SaaB ECU. Bad solder...

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

We are positively inconvenienced by a question of such generality as yours. If you have a particular vehicle, or a particular fault your are tracing, perhaps there could be some intelligent suggestions.

An ECU is just a small computer, tailored to monitor a number of sensor inputs and respond accordingly. Do not fix that which is not broken.
                  Is it plugged in?

Activation of Management Engine after exchange Z590 chipset - ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS
                    by DynaxSC
Hi, i have an ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS board, which had an shorted Z590 chipset. I have succesfully exchanged the chipset to a factory new one, however there is a serious problem with the Intel Management Engine (later on: ME) not beeing activated after the chipset device replacement.

For lower chipset families (on ASUS boards) it worked to program the oldest bios version into the SPI rom, and the bios had activated the Management Engine itself by default - there was a message on the screen prior booting - "BIOS is updating Management Engine ..... . Do not shut down to prevent...

                    by DynaxSC
                    Hi,

I have the above mentioned bord after repair, which was related to a lot of missing smd devices on the back of the board.
There were almost 20 devices missing, caps, resistors and some diodes/mosfets.
The board is generally working now, all PCIe ports are working, Windows installs normally.

However I have a problem with SATA ports 4-7 (the board has 8 SATA ports) - disks are not beeing recognized by the BIOS neither by Windows (which is usually normal in case BIOS does not recognize them).
The SATA 4-7 driver network is quite simple chipset<->buffers/drivers<->SATA...

RT8065ZQW Replacement (ASUS) and Management Engine
                    by Uazzamerican
                    Hello,
thank you for this forum and to share your experience.
                    It helped me a lot.
One of the things I learned is that a dead motherboard could be fixed by changing RT8065ZQW IC (or it's equivalent), depending on symptoms.

On a Z97 Pro, this replacement was enough to make the board boot and work, but I see N/A on ME version.
It is not a minor issue as ME and it's spi portion is responsible for other things, such as cpu microcodes.

It seems that the eeprom is not able to correctly communicate with PCH.
Already changed eeprom chip and I did...

hp 8530w Notebook Problem with Intel Management Engine
                    by Conste
                    Hello together,

I have a problem with the management engine on an hp 8530w Notebook.

Device cannot be started and I also cannot communicate with it.

When I got the unit the bio was with a password, the program of mazzif didn't succeed so I flashed it with the one found here.
Since then there is the problem with the management engine.

HWInfo tells me that version of ME is 0, but should be 4 I guess?!

Can anybody help me restore it?...
