Which TV is better?

I looked at both at the store, but on the Sony model they were playing some old DVD and the Samsung was playing 4k, so it is hard to compare. Basically, if I gave you the money, which would you buy? It's going in a home theater room.

I would go for the samsung one, they tend to have better panels. I might be wrong here, it's best if you could have a look at both and then compare the quality.
On the other hand, sony are known to make products of a higher quality.

I'd definitely go with the Sony. My Samsung plasma just crapped out after 7 years. Some say that's to be expected nowadays. I disagree, but maybe I'm from the old school.

I have 2 Sony TV's. One is 10 years old, and the other is 20 plus and still going strong.

From all my years of experience repairing multimedia consumer electronics Samsung is one of the worst bottom feeders as far as quality goes. They have not and will not receive any of my money.

I hear this from several people too. I guess Samsung gets such good reviews b/c the design their stuff to last a couple of years and then blow up, hereby forcing you to buy another.

I personally will never buy another Samsung. I won't even buy a used one.

Buying SONY you will get SAMSUNG PANEL and the supporting boards for the LCD panel, the main board may be still made by SONY.
