I looked at both at the store, but on the Sony model they were playing some old DVD and the Samsung was playing 4k, so it is hard to compare. Basically, if I gave you the money, which would you buy? It's going...

Which TV is better?

Re: HDMI Port #2 Not Working?
UPDATE: I got the TV back today. The TV had a defective mainboard, so they replaced it. Problem solved!

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
What ended up happening was that I got the parts and went to replace them, but the existing ones were on so tightly I did not want to risk breaking the board to replace them with the good parts. I had another TV that was under warranty and was going into the shop, so I figured I would just let them deal with this one too. They fixed it, and on the receipt for the service report they wrote this, I copied and pasted it below.

Dynex TV turns back on after turning off?
I have a Dynex 24-L230A12. When I turn it off, it comes back on immediately after shutting off. To make it shut off, I have to hold the power button for a few seconds on the TV. Nothing else is wrong with it.
Thanks.
UPDATE: I figured it out, it was the remote that was taking too long to shut it off.Last edited by Senatov; 08-24-2012, 01:43 PM.

Re: HDMI Port #2 Not Working?
UPDATE: Today, I got up early and drove the TV to the repair depot myself. The place was in the middle of no where and was pretty shady, but they accepted the TV without any fuss. I am just hoping that the problems happen while they have the TV.

Re: HDMI Port #2 Not Working?
I only have to pay to ship it to them. They pay to ship it back. The repair depot is in my state, and is not that far away, so shipping should not cost too much. I could actually just drive there with the TV and drop it off myself....

Re: HDMI Port #2 Not Working?
Now it is not working again. There is no sound when using HDMI 2. I am going to send it in for repair.
Thanks anyway!

Re: HDMI Port #2 Not Working?
For some reason, it is working again! I am kind of suspicious as this TV has been very inconsistent with its issues. I will make an update if the problem persists.

HDMI Port #2 Not Working?
Hello,
A few weeks ago, I made a thread about a Toshiba TV that would not turn on. The helpful folks on here helped me to find what was wrong with it, I ordered the parts, and installed them. Amazingly, the TV was indeed fixed.
However, I have another smaller Toshiba TV that I use for my Office/Game Room. About the same time the other one stopped working, this one stopped working. This one is only 3 months old. It is the 24L4200U 1080p model. The problem is with the HDMI 2 Port. When I plug my game console in through this port, I can get a picture, but no sound....

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
For $20 I can fix both of these parts myself. I just ordered them on Amazon. I hope it fixes it. I want to thank everyone for the outstanding help I have received. I was at the store a few days ago with the money in my pocket, ready to buy a new TV, but I thought, "I might be able to fix it." Thanks!

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
I found the Q860, but I am not sure what it refers to. Here is a picture:

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
You mean the black thing in the picture? Why is this preventing the TV from turning on?...

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
The document that you provided mentions that this is an overload protector. Does this mean that the problem is over voltage? If it is not, what is wrong with that component?

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
Just to be clear, the thing that needs to be replaced is this:

What is Q880 and why does it prevent the TV from turning on?

Re: Toshiba TV not powering on?
Underneath that heat sink that I showed a picture of, and to the left ever so slightly, I found Q880 with no "a" at the end. It probably still refers to the silver heat sink. What could be wrong with it that could prevent the TV from turning on?

This sounds exactly like what was said in that other thread

Same TV, Same Symptoms, Same Problem. I think we have found the problem. How do I fix this? What needs fixing? Where do I get the parts?
P.S. We are talking about the Heat Sink, correct?Re: Toshiba TV not powering...
