    Circuit abbreviations

What does S.S mean? its in the data sheet for SI 8120S. Also what does Vob mean? or maybe it's Vos I can't differentiate. Is that output voltage?

    Re: Circuit abbreviations

    It is 12V regulated output
    Vo = Voltage Out
Vos = Voltage output sensing, it is the feedback from the output to maintain the output voltage by sensing to see if the output is too high or too low then it will make the correction to maintain 12V output.
    S.S = Soft Start
Connecting a capacitor to terminal no. 5 permits a soft start at poweron.
Delay time Td and rise time Ts can roughly be calculated as
shown below. (However, the values may slightly vary in an actual
application.) If the capacitance of C3 is increased, it takes longer to
discharge C3 after VIN is turned off. Therefore, it is recommended to
set the value within 10mF. When not using the soft start function,
    keep terminal no. 5 open.

S.S PIN can also be used of ON/OFF function:
    Output ON/OFF control
Output can be turned on and off by using the soft start terminals.
Set the soft start terminal voltage to VSSL (0.2V typ.) or less to stop
output. To switch the potential at the soft start terminals, drive the
open collector of the transistor. Since the discharge current from C3
flows to the ON/OFF control transistor, limit the current for protection.
The SS terminal is pulled up to the power supply in the IC and
no external voltage can be applied.

      Re: Circuit abbreviations

Thanks for the in depth bud. Luckily I understand at least half of that. Can you tell me which one is the out put pin? There is no Vo. Just Vos. Or is the only function of this circuit to provide Vos and no Vo?

        Re: Circuit abbreviations

SWout (pin 2) is the output pin according to the datasheet I just found.

          Re: Circuit abbreviations

That is correct, pin 2 is the output pin, you have to measure the DC voltage AFTER the inductor.
If SS pin is grounded, there will be no out put.
So what DC voltage do you get at the input pin, output after the inductor (see application notes on how it is used), SS pin?

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
                by FrancescoV
                Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
                M:1.00/11107BLP
                D:?.??/????????
                O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

Corsair CX750M [Model 75-002019] - burned output toroid inductor
                by momaka
Looks like I may need a little help from the PSU experts (or anyone really! ) I have a Corsair CX750M (Model 75-002019) that I picked up for free about 4 years ago. This is the PSU:

So here’s what’s strange about this one: it appears to work normally (normal output voltages) and any PC is stable with it. However, after a while (typically 10-20 minutes, but time can vary depending on the load), there is a sweetish smell of burned magnet wire insulation emanating from the PSU. Upon opening the PSU after this happened (many times), I was able to confirm...

                AOZ2261NQI-11 Datasheet
                by Document Archive
                General Description

The AOZ2261NQI-11 is a high-efficiency, easy-to-use DC/DC synchronous buck regulator that operates up to 28V. The device is capable of supplying 8A of continuous output current with an output voltage adjustable down to 0.6V ±1%.

A proprietary constant on-time PWM control with input feed-forward results in ultra-fast transient response while maintaining relatively constant switching frequency over the entire input voltage range. The on time can be externally programmed up to 2.6µs.

The device features multiple protection functions such...

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
                by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

Fixing the Charge Circuit of the Batteries of the DC Motor
                by Astonished
                Hi friends of electronics

What you see in the video and pictures attached is the circuit for charging the batteries of a DC motor.

The problem is that this circuit cannot charge the batteries (3 1800mAH NiMH batteries) any more. When the circuit was OK, its green LEDs lit up one at a time to show that the batteries have charged more. But now that the circuit is flawed, LEDs light up as you see in the video and at the same time successive beeps are heard.

Please help me fix this circuit.
