I recently discovered a schematic for LCD panel T-con; AU Optronics T260XW02 with built in COF.
From this, several assumptions I've previously made appear true:
- The left-most tab is used to get the signals to the side tab bonds for controlling the panel rows. This may explain why the left most tab most often fails, as it is under more stress than the other tabs.
- The side bonds use only VGH (+25V), VGL (-10V), data, clock and output enable (they are shift registers)
- VGH appears to be modulated on this panel -- I'm not sure why!
- The main chip on the T-con appears to most only handle translation and synchronisation of the signals, it doesn't appear to do any picture processing
