Attaching SMA connectors to RG178 cable

Anybody have some pointers for attaching SMA crimp connectors to a piece of RG178 coax? I have built SMA on RG58 cables a couple of times, and it was not particularly difficult. However, when I test stripped one end of the RG178 I found the thing was so tiny that I had to borrow a stereo dissecting microscope in order to see what I was doing Admittedly my eyes are not what they once were, but it was a lost cause even with my "near" reading glasses, which were good enough for the RG58 cables.

Is it just me, or do most people have to use magnification when working with this type of micro-coax?

I had to buy one of those round magnifiers with the circular fluorescent bulb and the articulating arm to work on anything. I even use it for reading if the print is small enough.

Built that cable today -what a PITA. Besides everything being so small I needed the microscope to see them, some parts were super light. The center pin weighed about as much as an eyelash and holding it in place to put solder on the tiny hole was damn near impossible. The surface tension on the little ball of solder was enough to pull the pin off the center conductor. Then once a tiny amount of solder had stuck to the pin gravity took over and the pin kept rotating on the central conductor until the solder coated part faced down. Finally got it under control by gently "clamping" the pin between a nickel and a dime. Rotating the dime (on top) rotated the pin so that the hole was up, and there was just enough pressure to hold it but not scratch it, and just enough friction for it not to move when it was soldered.

I hope this cable lasts, because I don't want to have to do that again any time soon!

        Identify Cable connectors
        by fuzzy4
Can someone identify the connectors on this cable and what it's used for?
I recognise the BNC and what looks like power.
The middle connector, is a BNC adaptor.

        Thanks...

        Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

        Cable Repair
        by Patch2
I have a broken connector (believe it's a 6 pin mini-DIN) on a cable. The metal shroud and all but one of the pins are separated from the cable, and just stuck together for the photo. The other end is an unknown rectangular connector. The cable is for the foot pedals on an Italian made electronic piano, and the company is out of business. Looking for ideas on how to fix it. I have a soldering iron, but I'm not very skilled at soldering, so getting a retrofit for the broken end may be beyond my ability. The other end would be easier to replace, if I could get a mini-DIN cable with the same number...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
        by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

        Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

        First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

HP-Pavilion x360 Laptop Dead After USB-C Cable Connection
        by fweonea
While at university, I connected my HP-Pavilion x360 14-dw0156ng laptop, running Windows 10, to a monitor using a provided USB-C cable. Immediately after this, my laptop's screen turned black and the device stopped working entirely. There are no signs of life such as fan noise or LED indicators, holding the power button does nothing. I've previously used this same monitor model and cable without issues, the cable typically charges the laptop as well.
I've attempted holding the power button for over 30 seconds, removing and reinserting the battery, and trying to power it on with only the...
