Can someone help me identify this resister?

    Hi,

I have the attached resister and I can't seem to identify it. It seems to be red red gold gold (2.2ohms).

I did find one 2.2ohms but it's just not blue.

    Thanks and regards,
    Matthew

The weird colored ones are usually metal film or fire resistant units versus carbon composite. Is that resistor open (infinite ohms) and thus bad? Probably a fire resistant unit if this is the case.

The blue ceramic body means it's flame-proof/fusible... so as a safety part replace it with the same type. It will open circuit if overloaded whereas carbon resistors catch fire...
You can measure its size and figure out wattage:

thats a metal oxide wirewound resistor (flameproof and fusable),cant tell from the colors what the resistance is though.

Re: Can someone help me identify this resister?

I think it may be one of these -(sorry about the quality its not mine) they seem to feature quite a bit on LG main boards. Anyone come across one? does look like a flameproof metal oxide and I would guess 1cm x 3 or 4 mm which on standard size would make it 1 watt.

In my catalogue I cant find a metal oxide less than 10ohms so I am wondering if the redredgoldgold is correct.
Perhaps you can clean the bands up or scratch the surface of the 3rd ring.
If it is 2.2ohms could he use a metal film flame proof instead.

            The dimensions are: 10mm X 4mm

The rings are red red gold gold.

When testing it on 2000ohms it is resulting 003

            Can anyone comment further please?

If that reading is saying 3 ohm then it is out of tollerance (5% tollerance)
does your meter have a 200 ohm setting that you can use
2000 ohm setting is a bit high for testing a 2.2 ohm resistor
EDIT I think 2.1 to 2.3 ohm is about the tollerance range

2000ohms is the smallest that I can adjust it.

have you by any chance got a esr meter, that will measure it, or borrow someones DMM meter that has 200 ohm setting, just to check it
