    Fuse marking RV16F

I have this PCB mounted fuse, RV16F, which measures 4.7 ohms on my ohmmeter test. It's on the 230V input to a device. The device draws less than 100mA, so I figure this is unlikely to cause a problem, but it's still a very high resistance for a fuse, or is it?

Try measuring with another meter. I'd expect zero ohms, maybe just a few tenths for the leads

In fact it probably is your leads. Short them together and you will get 'value A' - then measure accross fuse for 'value B'. Subtract A from B to give C = resistance (if any) of fuse.

My meter has been zeroed out at the factory it seems, and it shows 0.0 ohms when the leads are touched. Unfortunately, I don't have another multimeter.

Yeah that's OK with the leads then. I wouldn't worry too much about the fuse reading, it may even be a fusible resistor which are often found in circuit designs.

It should be a Radial Leaded PTC Resettable Fuse.
              Here is the datasheet.
