    HELP with CAP SUBSTITUTE please

need a little help ladys and gents... i have a intel e210882 with one bad cap and naturally its not listed at radio shack in stock. it is a electrolitic 3300 uf 6.3v. i have a possible sub but want to run it by you all first.

first sub option is 1500 uf at 6.3 v

second sub option is buying the radio shack mini kit it contains 1 3300uf but its at 6.0 volts. so .3 v off from spec. will this work or does voltage have to be right back to spec?

thank you i really appreciate it, be heading out soon so get back with asap

    e210882 doesn't mean anything.
20 different models can have that same number.

    You need low ESR caps.
Radio Shack does not sell low ESR caps. - AT ALL.

The first step is to find the ESR & Ripple specs on the old cap.
    You gave uF and volts.
Still need make, series, diameter, and length to tell you anything.

Don't call me 'sir', I work for a living. [Old Navy joke.]

Try 10mm x 20mm - You were on the cm scale.

KZG [and KZJ] are Chemicon and they are a high failure rate parts.
The shield shaped mark on the cap is their logo.
They also have a habit of failing with no bloating so you need to replace all of them.

Check for Nichicon HM and/or HN.
Those made from 2001-2004 were defective and Intel got stuck with some.

          KZG can be replaced with:
          Rubycon MBZ, [MCZ]
          Sanyo/Suncon WG
          Nichicon HM, [HN]
          Panasonic FJ, FL
          Samxon GD, [GC]

These all have comparable ESR and Ripple.
The [xx] shows one better grade than just equivalent to KZG.

Any that are in the VRM could be upgraded to solid polymer with a little checking and math.
[Not a great idea on the rest of the board.]

            Where do you live?

In the U.S you can order caps from *digikey and mouser.
*use first class mail option for shipping, it's fast and cheap.

You need low ESR caps. The ones that are sold at radioshack suck and will not do.

Check your numbers 1mm round is impossible for a can size.

Tell us what you're trying to replace and take pictures of the board.

your a good man thanks again for the help. its looking like a no go theres 40 maybe more its not worth messing with i guess since its getting fairly old now. i hate intel boards specially e machines intel board choices you know theres ( special) parts buys going on there. so naturally cant put $30 plus in a board that isent worth half that. BUT i did learn alot so im greatful. i may replace just the one and see if it will boot just for fun. maybe a nuke canidate.

                    No noticeable difference in reliability.
Except for Samxon all of those listed are high quality Japanese brands.
Samxon [those series anyway] are considered good but I forgot where they are made.

MBZ and MCZ are out of production so you would be looking for old stock.
Mouser carries Nichicon HM and HN
Bdent carries Sanyo/Suncon WG [Never bought there though. Dunno how bad shipping is.]
Digikey has no lytics of this high of grade.
                    Badcaps.net carries Rubycon, Nichicon, Samxon
FJ and FL you would have to find on eBay and ask if dealer is okay before you buy. Lots of scumbags selling counterfeits on ebay.

It's kind of hard tell you, most of the time I only have to replace 15-20 caps on a board, if you're good enough you can do it under 2 hours or less.

I would start with the KZG caps. If you actually got some blown caps other then KZG then please list the capacitance, voltage, size, lead spacing, and if possible any identifiable brand markings on the blown caps.

Also forgot to mention badcaps.net has a store that you can buy quality caps from.
                      https://www.badcaps.net/store/

Shipping is a tad more higher with badcaps at 5$ vs digikey first class mail option at nice $1.50-3$
Not to mention it's close to louisville ky since they ship from Thief River Falls, Mn.

I can get about 10-15$ worth of caps and spend 2 hours of my time fixing a board, and it's usually rewarding.

But whatever, it's up to you. If you think the board sucks then dump it.

yea i need the experience but im dead broke and i dont have the correct tip for my hakko but will be ordering it asap. the intel board is over 10 years old so i just cant see the value in it and my buddy has a PC part para dice so can allways go pick up another likely much newer for little to nothing. thank you all i will stop in now and then. oddly enough been doing pc repairs since 1998 and never had a bad cap there skimping on quality on some boards to save money. i will also keep the store front in mind and have looked around nice selection!

                        thanks
