    New Laser Soldering tool

    Just received an alert. Looks very nice. Anyone have one of these ?

      I'm 50/50. Cool idea, but a laser that can do that in close proximity to eyes rings alarm bells.

          I agree - been watching assorted videos and the DIY projects all suggest safety eye wear. Am tempted but already have floaters from being hit in the face from bad volleyball days so will wait and see.

          Also, what is it doing to the internals of the BGA devices ? Is it safe for the internal bonding wires ? hmm..

              No captions but plenty of comments questioning the safety with the poster saying the manufacturer should include safety glasses.

              An interesting thing to keep an eye on, I want to see better videos.

                  That is insane, watching it though an optical magnifier too!
                  Don't even think about using this thing without eye protection, it will make you blind!

                          I have soldering station ZD-8916 and I only see like 6 different soldering tips being offered, eg. by tme: https://www.tme.eu/ie/en/details/zd-...er-peak/n9-26/
                          Very limited variety, I'm missing a chisel ones, it just doesn't exist.
                          I thought to myself everything is available in china, but they don't seem to be using the same nomenclature. Searching in aliexpress or temu for N9 tip doesn't find anything.
                          Is there perhaps equivalent type to N9 I should be searching for?
                          Or is my soldering station that weird and I just shot myself into a foot?...

                          SMD fuse soldering advice please

                          Hi all. I need to replace an SMD fuse on my camcorder and this is the first time I have had to do any SMD soldering so your advice would be appreciated. Below is a picture of the board that I am working on and I have highlighted the fuse that needs to be replaced. I managed to zoom in to take this picture but the fuse is really tiny and is sandwiched between other components so this is going to be a new milestone for me. I appreciate that I am going to have to buy a new soldering iron if you could advice on what I need please. I was thinking about putting a big soldering iron across the whole...

                          Good day folks.....wow, seems like forever since I posted anything here Still alive and well, thank you I guess you could say I've become more independent and able to work stuff out on my own. This one though goes way over my head and I doubt is fixable, but maybe some bright spark out there has an equally bright idea.

                          So: my Hilti PD30 laser meter quit on me just the other day. It was working fine, I set it down for a while and when I tried using it again it gave me an E276 and wouldn't do anything else. I tried taking out the batteries, all that standard stuff but nothing...
