    Looking for new soldering station/iron

I'm looking for a new soldering station/iron for home, that's not too costy. I have a Hakko FM-202/FM-2027 at work, and I love it, but the price point is way too high for home/occasional use.

I have heard there were cheaper non-Hakko soldering stations/irons that could use FM-2027 tips, like this one http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Hakko-T15-JS0...-/281700128365 (love those tips).

    Thanks!

      Aoyue 2900 is another one

Circuit Specialists has it as the CSI 2900
      https://www.circuitspecialists.com/l...l-display.html
      http://www.circuitspecialists.eu/70w...lder-csi-2900/
That's what I have and I'm quite happy with it. I've had it since 2012. Before that, it was used in a repair shop for a few years and saw moderate use.

the blackjack would be the better choice simply because this guy has designed an upgrade board to fit in the case.

although in europe atleast, that csi model is a lot cheaper.

I haven't had much experience with their lower end products but I swear by the Aoyue 968A+ SMD Digital Hot Air Rework Station. I have one at home, and had 2-3 of them at my last job. At least 3 other people have bought them on my recommendation and love them... so much bang for the buck.

Based on this experience I would expect the lower end Aoyue's to do as well (many of them have higher Amazon ratings).

Oh I should also mention I have used lot's of Hakko's and Wellers... The Aoyue wins in functionality and knocks it out of the ballpark in value.

that 968A - sorry, but that 900m loking iron is not 20% of the power of a T12 based iron.

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Recommendations of quality soldering station and (separate) hot air station
                by caprider
                Hey,

I'm looking for some recommendations of a decent quality soldering station and a separate hot air station. I'm just a hobbyist, so even if (ultra)premium tools are not required, I still want some good tools. They should be available in Europe.

I now have a TS100 and some soldering irons and looking for some better tools.

                1. Soldering station, budget around 200-240€
JBC BT-2BWA seems to be a good product in the budget.

                2. Hot air station, budget around 200€
Up to now I've found ATTEN ST-862D to be a good option....

                Sumsour station 8586D error H-E
                by rmjimenez455@gmail.com
Hello everyone, next I have the following problem with the Sumsour 8586D 110v dual station I bought it a year ago and it worked wonderfully, now it presents the H-E error on the soldering iron side, the hot air side works correctly..... I disassembled the soldering iron head because the manual tells me that this error is due to ceramic resistance problems, in effect, I measured it and it is open, I bought a new one that is working verified in a soldering iron and nothing.... The same error continues, I proceeded to open the station and check visually, I found a totally damaged 1R00 surface mount...

Looking for a budget hot air soldering station for hobby use
                by deep000
                Hi,
I'm looking to get on Aliexpress a hot air soldering station for hobby use, nothing too fancy, just something "reliable" and budget-friendly.
Any recommendations for a "good" cheap one that gets the job done?
                Thanks in advance

Quality solder iron tips and Kapton ?
                by corrize
Hello, I have a solder iron pen (50w) with tips « 900m » (hollows ones, standard). I'm searching to replace mines because it's impossible to tin, they remain black and impossible to unsolder a mini SMD capacitor with. Bad ones.

I'm looking to replace the iron tips but, on Amazon, Ebay… all no names, the sames. Sold by 10, 15 or more at low price and « pro » websites only one Hakko tips sold 20 dollars. I'm lost.
Do you have brand of qually tips pls ?

Same question for Kapton (for my other hot air iron), do you have brand or good place to buy, the true...
